The Moon Spire Chronicles - Blade of Silver Blood
Chapter One: Below the Moon's fading light
The Moon's blessed was the one person who got everything. Adoration, gifts, offerings, and direct communication with the Inshe. Things most fae craved.
The current Blessed, Meluna, stood in front of the large crowd gathered in the Silver Forest, carefully preparing the rite while everyone watched. Her large eyes were fix steadily on the table in front of her, avoiding eye contact. Feeling the light of the Moon on her back, she seemed to relax slightly, tracing two fingers across the blade in front of her.
Just as she lifted it, lightly holding the hilt, a hand wrapped around her arm, pulling the priestess firmly against someone's chest. She stiffened, hearing something whistle through the air as the grip on her wrist tightened. The person holding her blocked her vision, leaving her disoriented.
Commotion came from below, alongside cries and screams. As Meluna was escorted from the chaos, she tried to see what was going on, only being able to spot a plume of smoke rising from behind the silver trees. Fire.
Hello everybody! Aside from ONAS, I have another project I'm currently working on, and I'd like to introduce the cast. If everything works out, I will be able to post a chapter every week.

Meluna
A fae priestess who worships the goddess of the moon, often found hiding away in a deep corner of the Silver Forest. Other fae seek her out for wisdom, which she rarely gives.
Shivani
Another fae from the silver forest, Shivani is a beloved huntress who has a fondness for Celestial beings. Her sister, Kamari, has cut all contact with her.
Kamari
The eldest of her two sisters, Kamari is a responsible fae, armed with a large spear. Unlike most, she has a dislike for anything related to the divine, and has since left the silver forest.
Zira
The youngest sister of Kamari and Shivani is a rather anxious soul, wishing to be taken in by the priestesses in their abode. She often prays to the moon goddess, to no avail. Meluna has never answered her questions.
Cressilyn
One of the first fae to abandon the silver forest, Cressilyn is seen as a danger. She has her sights set on ending all who continue to worship the Gods that abandoned them, and struggles to find the fae in the ever changing forest that she once knew like the back of her hand.
Umiko
A young priestess of the moon goddess who handles the moon animals of the forest, Umiko has personally seen the moon goddess, and is under her protection.
Emris
Emris is a young man in charge of protecting his fellow fae, guarding the others with care and gentleness.
Miuku
The equivalent of a royal among the fae. Miuku respects the Gods, but has never personally believed in them. She has voiced these beliefs, but never outright opposed anybody.
Rayana
One of the moon goddess's personal attendants, Rayana is a priestess held in the highest regard, rarely seen in public. She spends most of her time in the secret location of the moon goddess, only coming out for official ceremonies.
Shaorin
A fae girl who forges weapons and traditional offering chalices and other things. She is commonly seen in the village, working on something new.
Shinoa
The elusive moon goddess. Not much is known about her, other than her name. Calling her such is considered disrespect, and fae are expected to call her "Inshe", her official title among mortals.
Sunaylan
Another of Inshe's attendants, Sunaylan has long betrayed her goddess, joining Cressilyn in her vengeance.
Columnea
A young woman who has only been seen once, dressed in Celestial attire. She is rumoured to be with the Inshe, but nothing has been confirmed or denied.
Her attention wandered to the ruins, halting in her tracks on the threshold of the forest. Her eyes narrowed. Something was in there. Turning on her heel, she cautiously entered the building, her gaze darting around. Two voices reached her pointed ears through the fabric of her hat.
“-wings. It’s something else.”
She stepped closer, just a bit. Light reflected off of broken glass, shining straight into her eyes from her new position. She stumbled back, floorboards creaking loudly and a soft thud as her hat fell, giving away her location. Scrambling to grab her hat, the fae pressed her wings against her head as much as possible, managing to cover her hair in full before she turned, praying nobody had seen her. Footsteps approached.
Taking off into a sprint, she darted down the stairs, trying to get out as fast she could. Her head continuously swivelled around, trying to see if they were behind her. Brick scraped her arm as she rounded a corner too sharply, drawing the faintest hint of copper blood.
Then, her foot hooked on an uneven tile, catching herself on her arms. A soft wince escaped her, blue curls slipping from under her hat, a singular feather among them.

Before I start this, I'm very excited to be the one to kick this off, aswell as a little anxious. If the people of the OTB dont like it, please let me know and I'll take it down so someone else can kick it off. I tried not to go insane with the world building, but I couldn't fully hold myself back.
A soft groan escaped from below the rubble right outside the kingdom, a bird watching curiously as it moved. Soft hands pushed a large chunk up, shoving it away as she rose to her feet. The wings on her head fluttered, opening to the side to uncover her eyes.
Small hints of dirt fell from between the feathers, which had prevented it from falling into her eyes. She blinked to adjust to the light, before straightening out, glancing around at her surroundings. No humans nearby.
She hopped out of the little gap between the broken concrete, her dress nearly getting caught on a sharp edge. This resting place had not been her favourite, but no human would bother looking for fae beneath rubble. Stretching properly, her small wings spread out, a single loose feather slowly drifting down.
The fae took her wing into her hand, observing the faint fluff of her feathers. Molding season was coming. If she left feathers everywhere, she would be much easier to track. Folding them back down, she reached into the small bag attached to her hip, taking out bandages to bind her wings tightly to her back. They covered them up perfectly, aswell as keeping feathers safely there until she took the binding off. Placing the hat upon her head to hide the wings there, she walked in the direction of the forest, discreetly trying to avoid the humans while appearing as normal as possible.

Hey everybody, I've been seeing some chaos in fandoms recently, and decided it'd be best to set up some basic rules.
1. Be respectful of everybody, no matter whether you agree or disagree with their opinion.
2. This is a safe space, and most of my stories exist as a way to escape real life. Political opinions, hate speech, and any other real-life discussions are to be kept out of this space.
3. Critism is valid! If you read something in my stories, relating to your culture, hair type, religion, etc, that's inaccurate and/or disrespectful, please send me a DM! I try my best to research everything and not include harmful stereotypes, but sometimes I mess up. I'll take notes of your critism and look into it when I go back for a new round of editing.
4. Please do not make suggestive comments and/or NSFW art or writing of my characters. Most of these characters have elements based on myself, or people I know, and they have helped me through a lot. I'm not comfortable with anything of the like being made of any one of my characters.
5. Do not run my stories or characters through AI. No AI chatbots, either.
6. Please do not repost any of my work. These are all original works that I have poured my blood and sweat into. My only platforms at the moment are Tumblr and AO3. If you see any of my work elsewhere, please notify me.
Willow Trees and Waterfalls - A Greek Mythology Original Story | Dividers made by @mer-acle
Disclaimer! All of this is just a fun writing project. None of this is canon to the myths, nor do I claim it to be. It will be inaccurate and may have mild mischaracterization based on my own headcanons and such. I will try my best to stay true to the myths and canon personalities of the Gods, but since I added an OC in here, you shouldn’t take it too seriously. This is not a proper reference for actual Greek Mythology.
Willow Trees and Waterfalls is an AU - what if, before Zeus knew of Athena’s existence, he already had a daughter to fill the role of Goddess of Wisdom? How would she react to her domain being taken from her by Athena? And most importantly, what role will she play now?
For this, I created an OC named Noctua. She was six (6) years old at the time Athena spawned out of her father’s head, and didn’t quite grasp what happened yet. But as she got older, she grew more resentful to the other Goddess. Even though they shared similar traits and behaviours, Athena had taken from her what was supposed to be her birthright. And Athena can’t quite grasp why this little girl seems to dislike her so much.
Below the cut is the first scene. It’s quite the rough draft, so please excuse any spelling errors/bad grammar and just overall terrible writing.
TW for blood, bone-shattering and a descriptive version of Athena's birth. Might be considered body horror and/or nauseating. Read at your own risk.
Hera’s slender fingers ran through her daughter’s dark waves of hair, the girl’s warm body resting against her. Tiny fists laid on her chest, head on her shoulder. The Queen glanced to her side, at her sleeping husband, sagged in his throne.
Noctua murmured in her sleep, shifting against her mother. Her tiny wings unfolded and folded again, a feather drifting down.
“Shhh…” Hera whispered soothingly, adjusting her grip.
The sky darkened slightly, a vague hint of lightning briefly flickering in the clouds. She sat up straighter, eyes flicking to her husband again. ¨Zeus?¨
One hand moved off of Noctua, gently shaking her husband. ¨Zeus, wake up. You're making it storm.¨
A soft groan left his lips, reaching for his temple. ¨Hera?¨ His eyes blinked slowly, pushing himself out of his chair. Hera followed, hand still lingering on his arm.
¨Hera-¨ He uttered again, still blinking, expression glazed over, reaching around to find his wife. Then, he stumbled. The lightning outside crackled as Zeus fell to his knees, panting. His chest heaved rapidly, trying to gain his senses amid the blinding pain he was experiencing.
Hera knelt down next to him, hand hovering, reaching to touch him, only to flinch away as blood splattered from his forehead onto her and Noctua, skin slowly tearing open. ¨What in the- Ares!¨ She raised her voice, stepping back and pulling her daughter closer as Zeus's head disfigured even more.
¨Demeter?¨ Hera continued calling out, trying to get anyone's attention. Relief settled in her shoulders when Ares came in, trying to explain what was happening while Zeus continued to flail uselessly.
¨I- he was just like that, all of a sudden, I don't-¨
Ares took one look at his father's head, before removing his axe from his back, and lifting it.
The Queen's eyes widened in horror, turning away to shield Noctua as she heard the sickening crack of splitting bones.
Zeus thudded onto the floor, and the noise of rustling fabric and the faint noise of unsteady footsteps breaking through the brief silence.
¨… Mom?¨ Ares's voice was uncertain, prompting Hera to turn around.
There, among the blood and splinters of bone, stood a young woman, her eyes bright with wisdom, a spear in her hands.
