I strive to live a life in which I wake up in the morning and am not really excited to embrace the day but rather I'm just content.
I don't need excitement. I just want to embrace the simple things.
Wrapped in a blanket that my father crocheted for me, I want to read a book on the couch, a cup of tea nearby.
I want the food of whatever meal I am preparing to fill the house. Perhaps the smell of garlic and herbs. Maybe I'll bake something with cinnamon in it, with a sprinkle of chocolate chips.
While I prepare food, I want my wife to wrap her arms around me from behind and we sway to whatever song is playing from my little Bluetooth speaker. We might dance a little, but we have to be careful because our socks can slide on the tile floor. I'd probably giggle whenever I lose my footing.
I want to light a candle and sit at my desk, scribbling away in my journal.
A cat might rub against my legs, I'll pick scoop them up, and boop their little nose. I'll most likely walk over to their food dish and check if they had been fed.
I want to look out the window with a small smile as I watch the birds glide in the sky, above the trees that sway gently in the wind.
I want to curl up in bed at the end of the night and sigh when I sink into my pillow.
I just want to live a life where I nod off to sleep and reflect on a simple day, those types of days that leave you with a fuzzy warm sensation in your chest. I want to do big things in my life, I want to touch the lives of many people and change them for the better. Upon reflection, I want my life to be filled with simple joys.
