Ai and the state of the world.

My heart hurts for the state that things in the world are leaning towards, humanity again proving the darkness and greed living in their hearts and minds to the point that something as simple and joyful as fanfiction has become a target a well. As many know, I am a rather prolific writer on the ao3 fanfic sight, having 28 works that I have at least started posting, as an older woman, I grew up alongside technology long before ai was more than a pipe dream that showed up in si-fi movies. That being said, I have recently been targeted by a bot comment on one of my fics accusing me of coming here on tumbler apparently bragging bout using ai to bypass the writing process, something that is honestly laughable for multiple reasons. Not the least of which is the fact that this is the first post I’m making on tumbler in ages (sorry about that guys) for those that are curious, I use libre office to write my fics, a free open source software that is basically just like Microsoft office, which I was using till it because too costly to maintain. Every one of my fics are things that I have come up with in my own mind, every word written by hand or I should say typed by hand onto their own documents stored on my computer. I spend most of my day working on my writing as a disabled woman with plenty of free time, that means that I am almost always typing. This is all to say, I find it not only laughable that someone would accuse me, someone who has zero skill in using ai at all, of using ai to cheapen my own passions. The fact that the world is to the state that there are people using bots or even their own free time to go around accusing a fanfic writer of something like that is… there needs to be more protections in place for creatives, for the people who are out here putting our blood, sweat, and tears (sometimes quite literally) into creating the art that we do, the things we share in hopes of bringing joy and connection. While I can see ai as a potential tool for some, the amount of freedoms that have been given too it are far too lax and too protective of larger corporations that use it for profit.

ANNOUNCEMENT: I hit a heavy dose of depression that left me struggling to focus on even the most basic self-care, for that I’m sorry that I have taken a couple of weeks off unannounced. I’m just starting to pull myself up out of the black hole enough to sit and do something that I truly do love, write. I don’t want to promise that I’m going to be anywhere close to my normal schedule, I’m going to write what I’m feeling in the moment and if you get a week of chapters on one fic and not the others… so be it. I’m also not going to promise a chapter a day, but at least one a week is easily doable.

With all of that Said, I’m going to go ahead and drop the chapters that have already come out on my Patreon over on ao3 in a large batch before getting to work on doing new chapters to go on my Patreon. So for those of you that enjoy my fics on ao3, take this as my apology for being gone so long, for those on Patreon, look forward to new chapters coming out a week before they will be hitting ao3, maybe even some new things that haven’t come out on anything else yet.

Most slave stories have a dark tilt to them, while I have read plenty with Underfell, Classic, and all of them have some messed up things, this story slithered into my mind, and I felt that I should write it. The question came of what would it be like if the Underlust monsters found themselves on the surface, and faced with the power of the humans were pushed into slavery. While a few tropes we expect from a slave story will be present, collars, submission, non con or dub con elements, there will be a few things that you might not expect. While I have this tagged as a reader insert fic, the reader portion is due to some of the POV being done in second person. The MC is both the reader and an original character with her own personality and background, she has flaws, she has character, and she is a person on her own with a name. Be warned. Sandera Huges is the heiress of a wealthy family, she uses her unique position to attempt to campaign for monster freedom as they come up from the mountain, sadly things don’t go according to plan and she has to change her tactics to find a way to give the monsters what they deserve after what humans have done to them.
