I've compiled a list of all the canon titles, so I just try to think of an abstract term that could vaguely apply to the character that doesn't conflict with anything already canon. I don't really have much in the way of advice to give aside from not contradicting anything already canon unfortunately.
I made myself a Vast Error fantroll! This is Rotier Blubir, his job is to manage Corporateās social media presence in accordance with the variety of slick, sleek brand redesigns. Iām not saying heās Repitonian Wendyās Twitter, but he kind of is. BIG fan of Turnin Kaikai, if the flaming shirt didnāt give it away. His sigil is Pound!
I made a Trollodex card for my Vast Error trollsona! Thatās different from a regular trollsona for a whole slew of reasons that I wonāt delve into. The important thing to know is that this guyās sigil is wick, in case the candle/fire puns didnāt clue you in. ;)
Tyrose has gotten a minor redesign! I decided that the hat didnāt make any sense and decided to give him a little pencil tucked behind his ear instead. Except he doesnāt have ears, so itās just kinda hanging out there. Either way, here he is! Brand new sign, too.
Gasp⦠is Troll Call back?? Nah, couldnāt be, Morien doesnāt have four horns because he was designed before that became a rule. Itās a fan card! Itās been a while since Iāve made one of these, but MAN it feels good to be back.
And for those wondering, heās a Derse dreamer and Rage-bound. His sign is Gemnis (from Canis Major), the sign of the Disturbed. More info here! Or just check out my way cool select page.
Is the matriteam a proper adventure? If so, where may it be read? Also, I particularly like Quinta Macdonald.
Matriteam isnāt a proper adventure, because Iāve got zero proper adventures and also zero time for such. Sorry! Thank you for your interest, though.
Thank you, but, but who? Iām flattered at the thought but itās hard to feel good about a voice I donāt really know. Or do know, but canāt know.
Iāll be straight with you. All of my fansign advice comes straight from the mouth of my good friend Alterina, who was kind enough to give me an updated, summed up version of what we know:
Rust - Rust signs are ALWAYS able to be evenly bisected down the middle; thereās not a single canon sign that isnāt. The important Rust traits are some sort of hook/curl, and usually some sort of converging point/line/arrow in the middle, be it an arrow, two curves touching, etc. Thereās a lot of variety in Rust, but itās always gotta be symmetrical with curls/curves.
Bronze - Bronze signs are also generally symmetrical, but not always - the canon ones that arenāt symmetrical are mirrored diagonally instead [Taurcen, Taurlo]. Bronzeās unifying trait is the circle. There is always a circle. Maybe even more! The rest of the lines are up to you, either going through the circle, from the circle, top, bottom, sides, whatever! But there better be a circle.
Gold - Gold signs, frustratingly, are almost always symmetrical across at least one line, but a lot of them can be split by two. The only Gold sign that isnāt evenly symmetrical is Gemsces, but even itās made of two combined Scorpio Ms. Common Gold traits are bars, arcs, and arced bars. Circles and ovals [or at least halves of them] are pretty common amongst Gold signs too.
Lime - Lime signs are⦠an odd case. Thereās a few different types of Lime sign. Mirrored includes signs like Cancer/Canicorn/Canpio/Cansces. Serpentine includes ones like Cano/Canpia/Caniborn. Arcs include Canrist/Canlo/Canga. Then thereās the Really weird ones like Camini and Canun. A lot of Lime signs include a circle, but not all. Fitting to the casteās nature, Lime signs are just really hard to describe - but your best bet is following the Mirrored theme.
Olive - Not too much to say about Olive signs. You have a circle, then a tail, or two, or one that splits into two. The tails are usually curvy, but straight lines show up often enough too. Basically, what you do with the tail is up to you. Olive signs CAN be symmetrical, but almost never are.
Jade - Jade signs are also weird, but a good TLDR of them would be āintersecting lines.ā You know the fish shape, Ā in the middle of Virmini? It, or a variation of it, or SOME sort of loop shows up in a good chunk of Jade signs. A little ānotchā or tail is also common, Jade signs can also be symmetrical, but I guarantee itās going to look more Jade if itās not. Jade signs like lines that come off of other lines or lines that somehow both go in a totally different direction than its āparentā but still flows well.
Teal - If you have a Teal sign, thereās gotta be a bar somewhere in it. Itās generally straight and encompasses the entire sign/shape, but sometimes itās short, broken up⦠Youāll notice signs get a lot more wild and hard to pin down sometimes as you move up in the spectrum. Whatās paired with the bar can vary wildly [like Tegiriās sign, for example], but arcs a good bet. Curved, semicircular, wiggly, jagged, straightā¦. go nuts! They donāt always have to be an arc above the bar, either. Some can be to the side or below the bar.
Cobalt - M. It can get crazy as hell, but if it looks even vaguely like an M [or N in some cases!], youāre good. Arrowheads coming off of a line of the Cobalt signs are pretty common. Thereās not much else to say about Cobalt signs beyond āM, arrow tail, mix of straight and curved linesā.
Navy - Arrows Arrows Arrows Arrows. You can literally take an entire other Zodiac sign and just put an arrow through the middle of it and have a Navy sign ready to go. Thereās always an intersecting shape or line through the arrow - usually looking like an arrowās fletching, sometimes itās a whole entire shape, like the Leo sign. Or Libra sign. or⦠you get the picture. The arrows are generally diagonal, but a vertical arrowās fairly common too. Symmetrical Navy signs will generally look better, but itās not a necessity.
Purple - Curly loops! Straight lines show up here and there, but Purple signs love curls and loops and loops that curl through each other. 50/50 if itās symmetrical or not. Purple signs also like the little + shape apparently? It shows up in a decent number of them.
Violet: Zigzags everywhere! Theyāre usually paired with some other sort of shape or line, but as long as thereās a zigzaggy shape, itās solid. It doesnāt have to be straight zigzaggy either; wavy lines work in general.
Fuchsia: Kinda like a repeat Gold deal - lots of bars and curved lines, since Pisces and Gemini look very similar. Fuchsia signs have a strong focus on trident-like shapes or lines 3 times. Itās hard to pin them down otherwise, since some can have fish/tails, some can have a sort of 4-line shape⦠Honestly, befitting royalty, Fuchsia signs can kind of do what they want.
I've been looking through your fantroll Troll Call Cards and they're really neat! I gotta ask, though, how are you making them so accurately? Is there a generator online I don't know about, or is it just godlike art and Photoshop skills?
Thank you so much!! Iām super delighted to hear people enjoy them, especially if theyāre considered āaccurateā. Honestly, though, there is no generator that does this amount of work for you. Itās all about observation and a lot of tracing as reference. Reference is the most important thing in the world when it comes to art.
