adam.
ย ย ย ย ย he doesnโt miss a beat. โnope.โ silence has always made him anxious. or, as close to anxious as adam griffin can get. โi donโt have enough hands for a torch,โ he replies, gesturing at the documents in front of them. โiโm a little preoccupied. but hey.โ he leans forward, ready to make a comment about alina sending mia his way when she gets back, but the mischievous glint in his eyes washed away by confusion. โwait, is she coming back? or is she gonna look for jobs out there?โ he doesnโt know what she majored in, nor does he know what the job market looks like nowadays, but he doesnโt know why someone would bother going to school so far away if they were just going to come back after graduating. thalia excluded, of course, but sheโs going to law school. adam doesnโt like to think where sheโd be if she wasnโt headed to durham come fall.
ย ย ย ย ย she rolls her eyes, unamused, dropping the documents she held in her hand and leaning back against her chair. really, she didnโt expect anything less from adam. โprobably not.โ she admits, unable to lie to herself or adam. besides, sheโd rather focus on keeping the disappointment out of her voice. adam doesnโt need to know she has emotions. โsheโs gone full la influencer. i donโt think sheโd ever be able to come back. or live anywhere else.โ without people thinking sheโs insufferable, at least. if ali didnโt love her so goddamn much, sheโd probably think the same thing. mia makes jokes about alina going out west to be with her and isra; sometimes, ali entertains the idea. she doesnโt think itโd ever feel like the right fit though, even if the only times she feels like herself again are when sheโs with mia and isra and nora. or when sheโs in the outer banks.ย
