Hi! Your art is stunning!! I’m a beginner trying to get better at drawing, and I was wondering what your thought process is to create the concepts for your pieces? Just drawing the characters in a pose or recreating a scene would be one thing, but you seem to think about metaphors and stories or feelings that you want to convey in your pieces, which makes them feel more like rounded out little worlds rather than like the sort of simple character shots I tend to do I guess? How do you go from “I want to draw fan art of this thing” to “here’s a feeling I want to convey and the content and composition to convey it”? Does it just come to you, or do you have a process of working on the idea until you have something to work with? I hope you have a nice day!
Thank you so much for the kind words!!! Tbh I think it comes with experience and looking at a lot of other people's art with more complex scenes. I spent yeaaaars drawing just a character standing there, and I didn't branch out much until I started really thinking about what I wanted my art to look like and which artists are doing what I want to be doing. Once I started curating my inspiration like that, it became easier for me to come up with ideas for more complex pieces.
ALSO i save a looot of photo ref on pinterest with environment vibes that I like, and sometimes I'll look at one and be like "oh this would look so good as X fanart" then build the idea around that. Other times I have a specific environment in mind already, and I'm like oh I want to make a piece focusing on this location.
IDK if this was helpful, with enough experience you just kind of come up with stuff LOL
