thinking about how dismayed and bewildered barok is when ryunosuke shares the full story of the first time he was in court… which only happens because barok asks directly for the story. he’s like “you picked up a GUN?!” if he hadn’t just picked one up himself to face his own false charges, he would judge even harder. “you solved it HOW?! there was a coin WHERE?!” well one steak had teeth marks on it, obviously that’s not right for a gentlewoman… “WAIT, you didn’t study LAW??? and you somehow WON?!” barok’s jaw is on the floor by the end and then ryunosuke can’t decide if he should tell him about the other time he was accused of murder…

Getting into the original Sherlock Holmes novels after experiencing TGAA is a wild ride. Most of the time you can kinda see where certain story elements were lifted and/or inspired by with slight variation (Dr Wilson/Watson and Jezaille Brett/Jezail Bullet, Gina Lestrade's namesake being more like her mentor personality wise, etc.) but what do you mean balloon boy from the teleportation case is the king of bohemia.
