"When your spirit has crushed mountains." #regram #truebeauty #favoritewords
We met before our bodies had an exchange. Intertwined in the cosmos as nomadic galactic dust, we lived in the pulse of the universe. You are unfamiliar physically, but that spirit I know like the route to my house. I have travelled your map many times, and each time with different looking baggage. In this realm, we have never spoken, but your arrival has been forecasted since before my birth. I want to sit still in the midst of this chaos, and explain to you how much I have missed you."

Birds
Today I noticed birds. There they were, all bunched together on a telephone wire. I wonder what they think of us. Sitting and observing us from above; they are God-like but flock together in community, as almost all animals do. I wonder if there is a species that lives mostly on its own.
But what about this triangular arrow they fly in, soaring across they sky? There is a leader among the bunch, and they always have a destination or direction in mind. It is an instinct that is beyond their capability to fathom- a higher self if you will- a universal communal self.
Stop thinking so hard about everything, stop over analyzing. Just go. Just do. If it feels right, just go with the flow. If it feels wrong, don’t think about it anymore and walk away.
things I’m still learning, kg. (via seabelle)
I am: Vrksasana
I am attached to the earth. I don't move, but I sway; I don't talk, but I speak. The breeze hits my arms As I reach to the sky. I taste the wind. I dance with the birds. I am home- I am here.
My art works address personal and social enigmas and narratives derived from myth, legend and ritual as they weave into contemporary life. A lifelong study of yoga and close attention to my dreams has informed my attempts to ‘yoke’ the sensual and metaphysical world, and the work and play of daily life. Continually seeking the marvelous, my response is to combine and construct, in search of beauty, humor and delight.

Occasionally A human being Saw my light Rushed in Got singed Got scared Rushed out Called fire Or it happened That he tried To subdue it Or it happened That he tried to extinguish it Never did a friend Enjoy it The way it was. So I learned to Turn it low Turn it out When I meet a stranger— Out of courtesy I turn on a soft Pink light Which is found modest Even charming. it is protection Against wear and tears… And when I am rid of The Always-to-be- Stranger I turn on my light And become myself.
Florine Stettheimer
This is an illustration for my applied drawing class in which we had to create a scene from a novel we had read recently. I chose the book "Embraced by the Light" by Betty J Eadie. This scene is one in which she describes her experience in a garden during her near death experience.
"Compilation" - oil paint, sand, gesso, flour, sugar, salt, pine cones on canvas.
This painting explores figure and object and how much of the image should be diffused.
Critique Notes
Reactions
-The feeling from the work which is created seems like a landscape or atmosphere.
-Issues within the work include the ambiguity between macro and micro.
-Residue of Winter
-The paintings are more non objective than abstract.
-Look up "In Wonderland"
-Feminism, Magic and Real were commented upon
-One critiqued did not like the use of sand in the images, the other did.
Things to Work On/Criticism/Expanding on Spirituality:
-Presentation: Referring my interest in the number three maybe display the works in a series of three to tie that in
-Work on wood or a cotton sheet
-Get rid of the thin canvas
-Representation in Abstraction: does not need to be literal; look up Hinduism for concrete references or go see a Hindu temple near Chicago. When looking for references within imagery pay attention to drums, the cloth which is worn, and food and taste in religious rituals
-Go to China Town for their New Year or visit a Vietnamese Temple
-Think about getting your color resources from nature through different colored juices or earthly materials to make your own colors
-It is important to experience these things to draw in more spiritual energy, focus on your experience of these things
-Pay attention to the process of the material and how it reacts on the canvas
-Think about using colors to reference chakras in structure.
-Lack of object metaphor
Reference
-Chinese and Japanese scroll paintings
-Lao Tzu quotes
-Read more books
-Sketch in the museum, specifically in the Chang Dynasty section
