"The minute you said NO, it became assault." That was the exact phrase the district attorney said to me at the age of 14 as she held my shaking hands. The sentiment "No means No" is one that hopefully resonates as deeply within you as it does for me. With all that is going on in the world, it's my hope that by speaking publicly, it ignites a fire in another to stand tall and not feel that an act of violence should ever make you feel silenced or ashamed. It is not your fault, it was not okay and you deserve so much more. If you are looking for more to do, volunteer, speak up at times that are uncomfortable, lend support and respect each other fully and completely. Thank you to women like @ohashleylove for her advocacy and efforts to raise money for support of women and men who've been victims. Your courage has inspired mine.
