Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, (NIV) ( Galatians 6:4 ) This verse can apply not only to our work but also the other areas of our lives that we compare. Comparison is a trap of pride we often willingly walk into because we take our eyes off of Christ and focus on ourselves. When we look at other peoples work, home, belongings, or bodies it keeps us from experiencing happiness with the gifts God gave us. Don't let comparison rob you of the joy of God's blessings. If you find yourself constantly comparing, refocus your thoughts on the positives of what you have.

Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. (NIV) ( Proverbs 14:29 ) Do you find yourself overwhelmed by your emotions of anger? When you loosely let that anger out, sometimes it is not done appropriately and it can get the best of you. If you find yourself with intense anger, turn to a safe outlet. Look to physical activity when your emotions begin to bubble up inside. Not only do you do good for your body, afterwards you feel better, and you have the opportunity to get away from anger triggers. Later, you can return to a less spirited conversation where your words can be measured much more carefully.

These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. (NIV) ( 1 Peter 1:7 ) Authentic, it's a difficult quality to find in our culture. When we do find it, it's like a precious metal. The same is true of faith and when we face hardship our faith becomes more authentic. If we can withstand the testing of our faith then we know our belief is genuine. If you are walking through a difficult time, take comfort and know it will bring glory when Christ reveals your sacrifice.

But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. (NIV) ( 2 Peter 3:13 ) Are you struggling through a difficult time right now? Your trials are not without a reason. God has promised a time to come where there will be no more pain. All of our baggage, sorrow and burdens will be gone. We can hold onto this knowledge while we work to increase our patience and endurance. While this may do little to ease your heart right now, it does give us joy to look forward to a time of peace.
