ASA EMORY | THE COLLECTER The Collection (2012) dir. Marcus Dunstan
was wondering why asa always has that slutty parted-lip pout going and then I realized it's because that stupid fucking mask has no nose holes and he can't breathe
pictured: fucking idiot forgot to put breathing holes in his spoopy idiot murder mask
I actually own a replica of this mask!
It is actually possible to breathe in that thing, despite the lack of nose holes. The way the shape of the nose is, there's a bit of a gap between it and where the mouth hole starts. That's where your airflow is.
However it does muffle your hearing quite a lot due to the thick material! I don't know how Asa was hearing all the things he was. Superpowers I guess, or he's just feeling the vibrations in the environment like the spider he is.
Also, that thing makes you SWEAT LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER.
So in short, Asa keeps his little lips like that because he's just like that.
Can confirm!! It is very breathable, but you will SWEAT.
Sometimes I gotta go "W H A T?" When my fiance talks to me with this on.
I saw this and it actually reminded me of the fact of this interview with Juan Fernรกndez where he dissected his own character!
Not only is it confirmed in the film that Asa is partially blind, but Juan actually talks about how he was blind and had no idea where he was going when he wore the contacts. He said it was a costume choice and a choice of his own. Juan actually talks about the fact that he knew Arkin was in the house well before Arkin knew someone was already there. Despite his lack of vision and hearing, he still has a pretty good grasp on knowing when somethingโs wrong.
me: wonder why I can't sleep
my brain at 2am: THE COLLECTED IS HAPPENING IMAGINE ALL THE POSSIBLE SCENARIOS AND DIALOGUES AND HOT ASA SHOTS
love how "bug daddy" is such a term like everyone knows who you mean when you say that
Asa absolutely named some of his dogs "bug" and "nibbles" and that's canon to me thank you
noticed this single frame in opening titles of the collector, asa is a smoker and i never thought he would be nor ever noticed it before
it's his sweater and his hand 100%
he kinda does look like a raccoon with the makeup on ngl
messing around again
I have this weird fascination as to why Asa carries this amount of keys on him. Like I obviously know those keys all have their respective locks and all, but just the way he acts with it is so interesting. I think itโs interesting that he carries that many keys and manages to stay silent, but also nobody talks about the fact that he has keys to the houses? In the first movie he already carries the keys to the locks, it might just be to make sure everything is locked but then later on itโs pointed out that the actual key to the front door is broken? Why keep it on his ring if it has no use?
I also noticed as The Collector when he has the keys heโs very on edge, there isnโt a moment where they arenโt either attached to his hip or heโs holding them in his grip. There is literally not a second you donโt see him holding them or at his hip as The Collector, even in the first movie you can see how panicked he is when he realizes theyโre no longer at his side. He quite literally frantically searches at his hip and even pulls at his shirt to make sure theyโre not just accidentally tucked in. I figured theyโre important, hence why heโs constantly having them in his hands.
But then you see him at home as Asa, heโs not as protective of his items as Asa or in his home. He carelessly throws them on his table, heโs not tense and heโs not on guard. In the privacy of his own home, heโs relaxed and acts pretty normal. Itโs only when he feels threatened does he tense up and is a lot more rigid. Not that any of this makes senseโฆI just think itโs neat to see the complete contrast between The Collector and Asa.
