Stybba: Stybba was a pony of Rohan. King Théoden lent Stybba to Meriadoc Brandybuck. Stybba carried Merry through the mountain passes from the Hornburg east and south to Dunharrow and thence northward to Edoras.

Sharp-ears, Bumpkin, Wise-nose, Swish-tail, and White-socks: The five ponies that Merry had ready for the Hobbits' journey at Crickhollow. At the home of Tom Bombadil, the ponies became friends with Fatty Lumpkin, a pony of Tom's.

Roheryn: Roheryn was the horse of Aragorn, brought to him out of the north by the Rangers during the War of the Ring, and said to have been a gift from the lady Arwen Evenstar.

Strider: Strider was a pony acquired by Frodo Baggins in Minas Tirith. He named it "Strider" after Aragorn's own nickname from Eriador. Strider rode with Frodo back to the Shire at the end of the War of the Ring. Two years later he carried him westwards in the Last Riding of the Keepers of the Rings to the Grey Havens on the coast of the Great Sea.
