Got blocked, can't help myself. Here's my response:

-Armand is not real. He is not a real anything, let alone a real child. There is no behavior being defended in real life and no real life harm or consequence happening. Your discomfort stems from treating a fictional character and relationship as if it were real. That's an issue when trying to discuss literature. Aside from that, I see hypocrisy in your outcry, as you don't share the same sentiment towards other characters. Can you please tell me a TVC character that DOESN'T have pedophilic tendencies, from one end or the other? I'm serious with this question.

-Totally agree no real life adult should treat a real life child that way, but that's not what we're discussing, and I'm not going to treat it like it's something it's not. This is an erotic fantasy monsterfucker novel written by an author who has written other "age gap," problematic bdsm fantasies (Sleeping Beauty is ~14 I believe?). It's not much different than age play pornography, which I'll admit makes me personally uncomfortable, but I recognize that it's adults playing pretend. In this case, it's an adult playing pretend with her Barbies; in both cases, no real harm is committed.

-You're not meant to question the ages provided in TVA and B&G. Regardless, Anne Rice clarifies explicitly in the official timeline provided in The Vampire Companion that Armand is turned at 17, therefore verifying the ages given. I can link a screencap if you'd like.

-I wasn't even here to debate the abusive nature of marimand. It is abusive, as are all of the relationships in tvc. I just don't think it's any different than the others and the reason it rings more alarm bells for people is because of the age gap and personal attachment to Armand, which make people claim things that are untrue, such as Marius being a white supremacist, among other things in a similar vein as your post.

I'm not going to say anything about your disparaging personal remarks towards me but please know they're unseemly.
