also I love that suzanne wrote katniss and haymitch in first person pov but with coryo she was like “third person for you… you get some distance, creep.”

I thought it was because the OG trilogy and Haymitch’s are their views on the capitol and their experiences of that world, whereas snow was obsessed with other people’s views of himself, so he got third person because that’s all he ever really saw of himself, too

Honestly I respect it because if she’d written his POV it would’ve been panned as a weird rehash of, say, American Psycho, and there’s so much about the Snow story that is external vs. internal and the way “tradition” and “the right way of doing things” that pushed him from being a sort of Arendt-style banal evil as a youth to what he becomes later (aka The Evil) that wouldn’t have happened without the overwhelming force of the external.
