reflection
In the communication design studies course my main objective was to discover more about the history of design and its evolution, I wanted to learn about different forms of design and what has influenced design over the years. I believe I did achieve these objectives as in each lecture I learnt about some form of history and design, which increased my knowledge and inspired me when creating my own works. Throughout the lectures in this course I learnt more about the Bauhaus, Memphis group and medieval movements, which are things I had never heard of before, while in the workshops I was able to unlock my zine designing skills, and further develop my collage, researching and planning skills.
Within this course I was inspired by many things, a creative/collective that stood out to me was the Memphis group, while a historical movement that inspired me was Bauhaus. Within workshops I was inspired by the creation of the alphabet with objects, as we were forced to think outside the box and look at our belongings and surroundings differently. Something I would like to explore further is ascii art, as the evolution of machine and design creates an interesting opportunity for imagery.
Thank you to Andy and Karen for a great semester !
