Although Ezra didn’t understand the feuds between both families, he could only imagine the pain that both sides had to endure. Like Allegra said neither parties were innocent, and now with Oz in jail for supposedly killing an innocent sub, he knew that tensions were starting to run high again. The finger pointing and what not. “I think the only way around this whole ridiculous feuds is for people to forget about their last names. I mean, if I were to tell you that I’m a Capulet after our nice conversation, would you hate me? Not that I am, I’m just stating an example.” He said kindly.
“You must own a bunch of those lint roller brushes then.” He teased, honestly not knowing how the woman could live with so many cats, but at least animals were faithful. The same could not be said with humans. “Your Monroe sounds like a fighter, either that or he just loves life. 17 years is a long time.” He couldn’t stop himself from laughing at her question. “I’m not a bum if that’s what you’re trying to get at.–I co-own Paradox Television with my brother Eli. Not sure if you’ve met him yet. He’s sort of the face of the network. I work behind the scenes.”
Perhaps she’s just on edge lately with everything that’s happened, but it almost feels like she’s being talked down to. “Don’t go calling it ridiculous. You make it sound like a school yard spat when in reality it runs much, much deeper. You aren’t one of us. You’re neutral. You never stuck to a side of town because if you dared venture to the other one there was a chance you might not make it home. You’ve never watched your friends take the fall for something that wasn’t even their fault on our side of town cause by them because they couldn’t afford a hot-shot lawyer and had to take their chance on a public defender who thought you were scum simply because of their last name. Perhaps we’re not as buddy buddy as you’d like us to be, and you’re right that maybe it has gone on for too long. But we’re all working through it at our own pace. I have Capulet friends, I enjoy their company. But I don’t fool myself into trying to pretend that some families will still but a bar on me claiming their submissives because of the Montague name and what it entails, or that I could walk into the Capulet Estate and not be judged. But like I said, everyone is healing at their own pace. We’re all for the most part civil, and eventually through generations that divide will dwindle. But that takes time. You wouldn’t give a gaping wound a plaster and expect it to be instantly healed. This is no different”
She turns down the street, heading towards the studio before her face softens at the mention of Monroe. “I do, have them stashed everywhere. Thank goodness ebay sells them cheap and in bulk. But my Monroe is a fighter, though I think he was a stray for a good few years. Makes him hardy. My Harlow on the other hand is a primadonna through and through. I ended up making her a series of ramps so she can still climb onto her favourite chair and my bed...” She offers a small half smile before thinking. “...I don’t think I’ve met him, though the name sounds familiar. I’m terrible with names, but good with faces so there’s a high chance I’ve probably met him several times over. Your work must be stressful. All the competition from Netflix, and other streaming services”
