“Is this really necessary?” Killian asked as he gripped the steering wheel tight with both of his hands. “Surely, there’s something more important we could do with the rest of our day.”
“Things are covered back in town,” Emma assured him.
He glanced over at her and grinned. “I wasn’t talking about responsible things…more of the recreational things we both enjoy.”
She gave him a look. “Eyes on the road, Killian.”
“You’re no fun,” he said, but did as she asked. “I still don’t know why it’s so important I learn to drive.”
“Because we have to be prepared for anything…if anything should happen to me…”
“Don’t,” he said harshly as he took a hand of the steering wheel to grab hers. “Don’t even think it, love.”
She gave him a soft look. “I have to…if you and I were out somewhere and I got hurt and couldn’t drive…how would I get to the hospital? And furthermore…Storybrooke is your home now so you’ll have to learn sooner or later. You can’t walk everywhere in this town.”
He sighed. “I suppose you’re right,” he said as he took turned the wheel of her bug slightly to the left, following the curve of the road. “Can I at least get out on the main road?”
“Not quite yet…we’re sticking with the cemetery paths because you can’t hurt anyone here…they’re already dead.”
He gave her a snide sneer. “Cute.”
She chuckled softly, giving him a little shrug. “You could go a little faster…you drive slower than an old retired lady from Florida.”
“I don’t know what that means,” he said frowning slightly. “But I’m sure it’s some sort of insult.”
He shot the bug forward, spitting gravel from the tires. Emma gasped as she slapped her hands on the dashboard. “Brake! Brake!”
More gravel shot out when the bug came to a rapid halt. “Jeez, Kllian,” she said groaning slightly as she rubbed the back of her neck. “Giving me whiplash over here.”
“You implied that I was going too slow so…this is go.” He gestured to the gas pedal.
“Yeah, but…this time ease into it…try it again, but…” She quickly held up her hands in a calming manner. “Gently.”
