Anyway, things here have been fine. Not much progress without being able to apply the nugshit we’ve been collecting, but we’ll get there. Oghren said we can stick him with whatever we find and he’d probably enjoy it. Both Sigrun and Nathaniel had fun shooting arrows at him for a while after that.

There’s not much else I can write without giving away too much information like you always nag me about. I can already hear you in that bossy tone of yours saying “anything can happen, dearest. We both need to be cautious.” But you haven’t let a single letter of ours be lost, have you? So. Don’t sell yourself short, princess.

Her internal dialogue paused as she heard without seeing a mortal approaching with footfalls Purposely heavy. Not a threat. Instead, a dim candle in a dark room that no light could Hope to escape. A light so small even the smallest of winds could snuff it out. Flickered, flicker, flickering…

Ah.

“Greetings, Spymaster Nightingale.” Hope said, not pulling her focus from the flora. “May I help you with something?”

“Inquisitor.” The Nightingale greeted in turn. “Not with anything new, no, but you are late for our weekly meeting.”

She further paused with fingers hovering in place. Time was something she had completely failed to understand, adapt, or bother with truly. A hindrance at best within this world, completely unnecessary at worst. Why did anything have to occur at specific points? Could it not be revisited again and again and…

An answer.

“Apologizes, but I am currently preoccupied with another task, “ she responded plainly as she resumed her task. Reports and reviews were dull, very little ever changed between the pen and paper. Not even Ambassador Montilyet could liven them up.

“I can see that. What are you doing?” Her and her tone were a touch lighter than normal, indicating amusement, Hopefully.

Curiosity pulled The Nightingale closer as something deep also pulled Hope along with her. It was heavy, as many threads were for Leliana, heavy, happy, hindering…

“If you recall when Skyhold was undergoing reconstruction, many plants and other flora were removed as many were dead or overgrown. The Gardeners had planned to cull this rosebush, but I prevented them from proceeding to preserve it– life still lingered.”

Careful, careful, careful as she began to work the thread with fingers Leliana could not see. Excited could not describe what she felt, it was something more innate, more tied to her very being, being able to fulfill her Purpose as she is currently.  She continued without pause.

Hope pulled less with tilting her head towards The Nightingale, mimicking conversation cues she had been studying from others, at least wanting to give the illusion she needed to see with these eyes. It made her less off-putting to the mortals.
