game of thrones ladies in music videos someone new / oceans / oblivion
the last first day / allison + rosie
Rosie was checking her emails diligently, scrolling endlessly through a myriad of tedious and inane questions. (At least one of them was, When will my dvds from amazon arrive in the mail? Sure, the wait sometimes seemed endless, but was that really worth contacting a psychic?) Her chin resting on her fist, Rosie’s eyes were glazing over until the door to her bedroom opened. Gratefully shutting her laptop, Rosie went to sit beside her sister, accepting a handful of goldfish. They’d been her favorite snack as a child and the magic had never wholly worn off.
Wincing as Allison detailed her experience, she chuckled despite everything. “Sorry, I really shouldn’t laugh,” she admitted. “It’s just…A feelings journal? Really? I hope the one you write is wildly melodramatic,” she teased. “We should watch Snape’s Diary for inspiration.”
Sobering up, she shrugged. “I’m surprised they do still let her teach! She was soo old when I was in high school that we were all worried she’d drop any day! I mean, I never had to take a full class from Mrs. Ryan, fortunately, but some of my friends did. They said, if you ask her any questions, she’ll go off on her own tangent for at least half an hour. I didn’t believe it until one time she substituted for us and it happened the first question someone asked. Somehow, she got talking about Shakespeare and then she talked about these lambs she’d seen frolicking out of the window for ages until she finally realized what she was doing and started chastising us for distracting her. Still, it was an amazing ride. You seriously never knew what was gonna come next,” laughed Rosie. “I’m pretty sure she didn’t even end up answering the question…”
She bit her lip. “She doesn’t seriously want you to write about every single question, does she?” she inquired. It honestly wouldn’t have surprised her too much, given Mrs. Ryan’s reputation, but Rosie chose to hold on to hope. “I mean, maybe if it were art that’d maybe somehow make some kind of sense to someone, but…this?” she shook her head. “Besides, how can you possibly grade that? It’s literally asking for opinions! Opinions are totally subjective! It doesn’t make sense.”
Rosie shook her head. “Come on, it’s only one year! You can do this! See it as a challenge,” she added, encouragingly. “‘I’m literally going to go insane,’ sounds like a great start for your feelings journal!” she added, not entirely sure if she was even serious or not. How was one supposed to do a ‘feelings’ journal? Rosie didn’t know.
Shrugging, Rosie popped a goldfish into her mouth, chewing it thoughtfully and swallowing. “Not really,” she admitted. “Today was kind of quiet as far as visions go,” she added. It was kind of nice. “But I did see David Lennox walking around town, so I closed shop and retreated here,” she admitted, chuckling. Every time she saw him in person, her rent seemed to go up.
Allison chuckled, “Obviously, that’s what I’m planning on doing.” She flipped her calculus book open to the first lesson, “Okay, so using the provided formula, I’m supposed to figure out how much water flows out of this guy’s facet during the first two minutes – okay. But I guess the really important question, is how do I feel about this? It honestly makes me really depressed that this guy has nothing better to do than measure exactly how much water flows out of his sink in two minutes and I got too distracted setting him up for match.com that I forget to do the rest of these problems.”
She almost choked on the goldfish. Assuming her best Snape voice, she said, “Today, I ate some oatmeal for my breakfast. It was flavourless and watery. I thought of -- “ She paused, deciding to swap out mother for something else for a host of reasons, “ -- the lunch lady. I cried.”
Allison laughed, “Yeah, today she talked about this collection of ants she had found in the back of the desk from something that had been left in there since June and while that was initially more interesting than the sheep thing, she did go on about it for like an hour ... and then somehow it turned into how she’d gotten a run in her panty hose this morning .... I’m not really sure if there was any relevant information in between -- I was too distracted from the piece of spinach that was stuck in between her teeth that’s been there for ... well, who knows.”
Allison shrugged, “I guess we’ll find out how she plans to grade this eventually. She wasn’t really clear? About anything? I’m half wondering -- well, have hoping -- that this was actually an assignment for another class? Either way, there’s seems to be every chance that she’ll forget about it ... or if not, dear god, please let her realize how stupid it is.”
She laughed, leaning back into the pillows, “I think “I’m literally going insane” just might be the title, to be honest.”
She propped herself up on her elbow, “Oh, ew.” She popped another goldfish into her mouth, “I think we should all get together and run that guy out of town.” Too bad he actually owned like ... everything. “He’s such an ass.” And so was Harry, Allison thought.
“It’s been a long week,” I say in the middle of the day on Monday.
the last first day / allison + rosie
“School is stupid,” Allison groaned, plopping down headfirst onto Rosie’s bed and dropping her bookbag to the floor with a thud. Sometimes Allison enjoyed school: she had some good teachers and she genuinely liked to learn, but for every good teacher there were two bad ones. Plus, Charlie had graduated last year and Allison already missed him.
She rolled over to her side, “I can’t believe Mrs. Ryan is still allowed to teach. Y’know she wants us to do a feelings journal where we write down about how we feel about each of the assignments she gives us? She’s teaching calculus: how am I supposed to write anything interesting about 180 slightly different sets of math problems? I’m literally going to go insane.”
She sighed, “What do you think the chances are that dad’ll let me drop out?”
She struggled for a second as she tried (and eventually succeeded) in pulling her bookbag up onto the bed. Unzipping it, she pulled out her phone, planner, and a bag of goldfish which she offered to Rosie before taking a handful herself, “How was your day? See anything good?”
OOC | Ben & Allison
So idk how they’d meet or anything, but I think Ben’d really like Allison!
Yeah, idk how that would happen either? I mean, Rosie and Matt may know each other since they are close in age, but I’m guessing they went to different schools, etc. but even if they do, idk that their siblings would know each other, unless they are really close? But to answer that we probably should wait for Tina, haha. And other than that, idk that they really have any ties (except for the fact that their sisters both have abilities but anyway ;D)
OOC | Alek & Allison
Do you think Elias would have Alek stake out the Hollands, as well, or leave that to Jack?
We’ve since talked about how we don’t think that Alek knows about ~powers, etc. I do think that eventually, I can see him sending him to stake out potential people (for the sex trade obviously ;DD) when it gets more than Jack can handle. But I think that for now, it’s just left to Jack. Ofc these two could meet at that awkward dinner at Rachel’s ;DDD icry b/c I don’t think Allison trusts Jack at all, but she’d probably be more likely to trust Alek #facepalm (unless Rosie tells her not to, haha)
Can you tell us a joke?
ooc / allison + lexi
So these two would def know each other since Allison and Charlie are bffs! I feel like Allison thinks that Lexi is pretty cool (but not as cool as rosie obvi) and def loves everything she bakes <3
ooc / allison + jack
~this is awkward~ So do you think that these two have ever really interacted much or do you think that jack always awkwardly leaves whenever they are all @ Rachel's together??
ooc / peter + allison
So these two are in the same class, so they would def know each other! I can actually see them getting along pretty well??
ooc / allison + rosie
SCREAMING ALL THE HEART EMOJIS + THIS RELATIONSHIP IS EVERYTHING ESPECIALLY SINCE OUR MAISIE/SOPHIE CHARACTERS CANT TALK ON ODR
intro / allison mckenzie holland
if you touch rosie, you die
seriously rosie is the mOST important thing to allison in the entire world and she hates that people look at her and think she’s a joke or a liar or crazy b/c she’s none of those things
she’s always been about trying to show the world the truth about things
hence her plans to be a documentary film maker
literally hates bullshit
if you ask her a straight up question, she’s gonna give you a straight up answer
can be kinda intense sometimes tbh??
but mostly she’s really laid back and chill
she makes jokes all the time and she thinks she’s hilarious
will laugh at you (but also w/ you)
but will laugh at herself more
can be annoying w/ the camera
def someone who documents most things
does a lot w/ snapchat b/c it’s easy but will also haul around more legit cameras than just her phone for more important things
she’s always wanted to be a filmmaker even b/f she knew about rosie and was def the v annoying kid who took her camera around w/ her and sat her parents and rosie down and asked them v important sounding questions about how they felt about the new laundry detergent they were using or their thoughts on taco tuesday and edited them into videos
don’t bring up her early work to her she doesn’t like to be reminded that that was an actual thing that she did and was proud of
hates when people say that documentaries are boring
if you say that, you haven’t been watching the right ones
be careful b/c she will make you watch the paradise lost trilogy, this film is not yet rated, the cove and man on wire
it really hit allison hard when her mom up and disappeared
but she knew that something bad had happened to her b/c their mother would never, ever just leave
for a long time she thought that she was just missing and that she’d come back, but she’s since decided that she must be dead and that she was a stupid child for thinking anything different
still hasn’t forgiven their dad for totally checking out of life when their mom went missing
like she knows it was only b/c he really loved her and couldn’t deal with loosing her but the fact that he left everything to rosie was NOT COOL and tbh she gets easily irritated when he tries to be a good dad and sometimes picks fights with him even though he’s really trying to be there for them now
really she’d like an apology but she’s never gotten one and isn’t going to ask b/c she doesn’t think that she should need to
also has a lOT of conflicting emotions about discovering that there is a third holland sister
didn’t know about her and now all of a sudden she’s living with them???
wants to like her but also doesn’t trust her so that’s not really the start of a good relationship so ...
she definitely has a hard time trusting new people especially after she was let down by her dad at a very hard time in her life and he was one of the people she trusted most in this world
you really have to prove yourself to get in with allison anymore
rosie, however, has always been there for her and allison knows that she’s done soooo much for her and she owes her everything
also grateful to rachel clarke who helped them out, too
she’s very focused on completing these videos about her sister -- convinced that it’s going to help her reputation and her business but instead it’s just bringing people who want to kill/hurt her right to their doorstep so that’s fun.
