clicK day 27: this week has been a little crazy, so I’m desperately trying to give myself some grace on not having posted, not having graded, not having planned. I may post pictures of my beautiful hair, but I also sit on my floor and doom scroll my way into oblivion sometimes. Everyone is really going through it right now. All of my insides are *screaming* “Don’t be vulnerable, Allison! It’s too scary and not worth it!” But something feels right about putting this out into the world. I am owning this Allison just as much as I am Mama Duck Allison who is always so put together. I hope this helps someone else feel not so alone. clicK day 25: you know what I miss? I miss the look of sheer panic on my student’s faces when I used to ask if they brought a pencil with them to class, like they should every day. Chaos ensued as singers began to beg, borrow, or steal whatever writing utensil they could find to pass the dreaded pencil check. clicK day 24: it feels incredibly narcissistic and somewhat odd to say that my quarantine “project” was learning about my hair. Let me tell you though, what a joy it’s been to go from the identity of “my hair is poofy, unruly, and wrong” to “oh, my hair is...curly.” If only 13-year old Allison had known that she didn’t need to straighten her hair to kingdom come to look like the other girls at school. If only she knew that about...many aspects of her life. Still learning, still growing. I am surrounded by such joyful memories: high school choir, colorguard, and ballet; choir trips to Hungary, Wales, and South Africa; student teaching, swing dancing, community choruses, and so much more.
