“Honestly, I’m terrified of planes. You’re lucky you are such a good friend.”
pre—crash
Born in Feburary of 1969, Scout Bishop was born in a harsh time that was contrasted with the absolute love and care his family had for him (and others). His father, Bernie Bishop, was a hard-working man who found a career as a lawyer and his mother, Dorothy Bishop was a stay-at-home mom. Scout was really close to both of his parents, being raised to love and care the way they had for him, which shows when his younger brother, Camden, is born and he takes on his role of a loving elder brother naturally. He also has an older brother, Charlie, who was attending a community college in the area.
Scout is a twin, born along with his brother Scooter. They both were pretty different, but still got along really well. Scooter was a bit more active and outgoing, while Scout was a bit more sensitive and artistic. They would tell each other everything and Scooter was, of course, the first person Scout told that he was gay when he was ten-years-old. Scooter was accepting, not really understanding why Scout was scared to tell their parents about it. At ten, Scout was already smart and perceptive to the world, already hearing the types of slurs some of his friends would be called and already witnessing a crime against another gay man, he was terrified of reactions.
Eventually, at fifteen, he comes out to the rest of their family at dinner after he was asked on a date with a boy from school. They are accepting of him, of course, treating it like Scooter just told them he was going on a date with a girl. He felt normal with his family.
When he is seventeen, he goes to New Jersey for a visit to Princeton after getting an acceptance letter. He explores the Univeristy and he falls in love with New Jersey. His family are devastated that he wants to move a bit further away than they are used to, but they are always supportive. He spends his adulthood in New Jersey, finding a job a Wisakayak as a History Teacher at Wisakayak High School when trying to find a job as a photographer is just a tad bit harder.
During his time there, he becomes close friends with Ben Scott and an English Teacher named Dakota Hensley. He starts to run the yearbook with Dakota and when the Soccer team goes to Nationals’, they play rock, paper, scissors to decide who gets to go with them. Scout wins, and he is very excited; he loves to explore new places and he loves seeing new sights.
Ben is happy that Scout is coming with them, he is Ben’s close friend, after all, and he is near the same age as him. They actually spend the night together before the flight, after Ben gets broken up with by Paul and invites Scout over for drinks. They ended up having a hangover on the plane because of it, having spent most of the night just going out and acting like dumb teenagers.
During the plane ride and crash, Scout is sitting with Ben.
“Look at the bright side, Ben. You’re trapped here with a bunch of teens but you’re also trapped here with me. Your best friend. Right?”
after the crash
Scout was knocked unconsious and didn’t wake up until Misty started messing with his arm to stop the bleeding; it was deeply impaled by some medal and he woke up to her pulling it out, screaming in pain as she did.
He is grateful for it, nonetheless, knowing that it was either that or he would bleed.
He throws up after finding out that Ben lost his leg and upon seeing it, he was passed out when Misty was helping Ben so he (thankfully) didn’t have to witness the pain and the actual chopping of his leg. He sticks beside Ben, cheering him up as best as he can.
When they decide to go to the Lake, Scout tells Ben to jump on his back. He carries him on his own the way there, not wanting any of the teenagers to have to do it. He had a bit of muscle from working out with Ben on the weekends, or even just playing soccer with him, so it wasn’t too much of a struggle.
He tries his best mediate the situation with the girls whenever they get angry or frustrated, and he actually gets pretty close to Natalie, Tai and Laura Lee before her death. He tries, with Ben, to stop Laura Lee from flying but he had no luck. He is sad after her death, and Ben kisses him to try and stop him from thinking about it. Which frustrates him, so they are arguing a little when Doomcoming comes around. He decides to go off on his own during Doomcoming, before coming across Ben and Natalie talking. He overhears Ben talking about Paul and misunderstands, feeling like a rebound. This makes their friendship a little strained.
Jackie’s death is a turning point from them, though, waking up at the same time as Ben to find the girls all eating her made him sick. Scout tells Ben to come with him, and he does; they go to the room and try to ignore what is going on outside. Scout kisses him as a distraction this time but it doesn’t feel right when they know what they are doing outside.
Just like Ben, Scout begins to distrust the girls and starts to feel afraid for himself and Ben, just a little. He goes with Ben to find the tree that Javi had drawn. When he overhears Natalie telling Ben that she let Javi die, he goes with Ben to where Javi was staying. He doesn’t tell Ben when he comes back later that night to set fire to the cabin. He doesn’t stop there, though, he sets fires to the trees, also, hoping that the fire would be big enough to signal for rescue. It doesn’t help, and when Ben brings Mari back to the cave and he hears that they all think Ben did it, he tells Mari he was the one who did it. Ben didn’t know this.
When he lets Mari go, Ben confronts Scout about the cabin and Scout is honest with him; those girls were only going to get worse and he was trying to save them all; the Yellowjackets, himself and Ben. He tells him about wanting the fire to reach people, too. Ben understands him and doesn’t fault him for it. By this point, they have started a relationship.
He is gone when the girls go into the cave, as he and Ben have a schedule of him going and looking through the forest to see if he can find either people or find higher heights. When he finds the cave empty, he just knows that the girls found Ben. He is quiet as he goes to where he knows they have been (he has been paranoid about them, always watching to make sure they could find where they have been) and when they finally leave Ben alone, he tries to get Ben to leave with him but starts to hear someone coming. Ben grabs Scout, kisses him hard, and tells him to get the fuck out of there.
He overhears Melissa and Shauna when they cut his other leg, and he has to hold back from going through and killing them. He keeps trying to get Ben out of there, but Ben tells him to fuck off. Scout keeps trying until Ben tells him that if he gets out of there, he would be going back to Paul. Scout doesn’t believe him but when Ben cries, and tells him that he just wants to be dead at this point, he tells Ben that he is going to get him out of there. He hides behind the trees until they are asleep and he starts to move before he sees Natalie and Travis.
After Ben’s death, it takes everything in Scout to leave and get the hell out of dodge – the only motivation he had was Ben asking him to live his life for him. If Ben hadn’t, he either would have tried to kill someone until they got him or he would have just went back to the cave and let himself rot. Instead, he runs.
the wilderness
He does not believe and instead sees the Wilderness as all of the teenagers using the forest and their empty stomachs as a way to be the worst version of themselves. Because of that, he almost becomes one of the worst versions of himself.
LOTTIELEE NO CRASH AU where lottie’s parents send her to live with her aunt in a religious town after getting caught kissing a girl and lottie finds herself falling in love with devout believer and the daugher of the preacher, laura lee.
back on my lottielee bullshit because what do you mean i come to you for spiritual guidance? you baptize me, during said baptism i have a vision predicting both your and my death. you die, and i’m wracked with grief and guilt over not saving you, and anger that everyone seems to have already forgotten you, so i give into my “gifts”. i try to embody everything you were to me. i spend my whole life cannibalizing your image, and 30 years later i’m still brought to tears at the sight of your ghost. i’m trying to help people, i’m garbed in heliotrope, all for you. when the worst of the visions come back, all i can yearn for is my death, my half of the vision that’s yet to come true. i seek it out intentionally. i recreate my vision. i die. my younger self greets my spirit and i panic. “have i missed it?” my younger self reassures me i haven’t. she asks, “are you ready to meet her?” your leitmotif in the background, and i am. finally, i am.
A senior at Wiskayok Highschool, Donna Lowe-Liang was 18 at the time of the crash, her birthday was February 18th, 1978.
A flight attendant on flight 2525, Theresa Liang was 37 at the time of the crash, her birthday was October 27th, 1961.

Donna's lore doesn't make sense unless you know Theresa's, and Theresa's doesn't make sense unless you know Donna's, so I have them both in this post. Although, I am going to start with Theresa's. (Season 1 TTL only for this post)
Theresa Liang
Pre-Crash
— Theresa was born and raised in Wiskayok, New Jersey. She lived relatively comfortable her whole life.
— She had a boyfriend named Leroy who she started dating when they were 18.
— Due to pressures from their family, Theresa and Leroy had to get married after Theresa became pregnant when they were both 19—even though they were right on the cusp of leaving eachother.
— They named their daughter Donna, and she was born on February 16th, 1979.
— Overwhelmed and stir-crazy, Theresa applied to become a flight attendant in 1981 at the age of 21.
— Leroy and Theresa divorced in 1983 when Donna was 4, and she wanted to stay with her father since he was around more for her. But, obviously, Theresa wanted her to stay.
— Leroy had two children (Ryan and Carrie) with a new wife in 1986 and 1990.
— When the opportunity came up, she decided to take Donna with her on a flight to Seattle, Washington in an attempt to win her back over.
Crash
— Theresa was on the crew along with the two pilots and another attendant, her highschool best friend, Emilia Müller.
— Theresa and Donna both survived the crash, and neither of them sustained serious injuries. But, Theresa witnessed the death of Emilia, as she was the burning flight attendant.
— Since she was the only conscious adult in the situation (as well as being a flight attendant with prior training) Theresa was able to help the others with basic medical care safety precautions.
Early Wilderness
— She voted against leaving the crash site, since she still thought that the transmitter would work and get them rescued.
— When they make it to the cabin, she did not make an attempt to use the gun—since she did not want Donna to see her with a weapon.
— At this point, Theresa did not have a specific job, but rather helped out wherever she could.
— During the seance, Theresa remained downstairs. Not because she was against it, but rather, she just thought that it wasn't going to be interesting. Although, she allowed Donna to join the others in the attic.
— When Tai decided to go south for help, Theresa was torn. On one hand, she knew that she would be able to offer a helpful hand for the group. Although, on the other, she wouldn't want Donna to come with them.
— Ultimately, Theresa remained at the cabin with Donna.
— Theresa was unable to tell how fed up Donna was with how overbearing she was becoming. Having spent so little time with her, she was unable to interpret how she acts.
— She found herself growing uncomfortable with how interested Donna was in the supernatural aspects of the Wilderness. She didn't yet believe that they were real, she was worried that her daughter was going to fall into a psychosis wherein she believed the supernatural stuff.
— Theresa discouraged Laura Lee from going on the plane. She knew how finicky they can be and all of her training told her that it was a bad idea. But ultimately, she was unable to prevent Laura Lee from flying.
— She blamed herself for the plane exploding, she could have done more, and now Laura Lee doesn't get to go home to her own mother.
Doomcoming
— The only formal wear that Theresa possessed was her flight attendant uniform, but she opted to just wear her normal clothing, now uncomfortable with seeing it.
— When Donna disappeared into the Wilderness with Mari, Theresa tried to search for her. Although, she was unable to find her until she returned to the cabin in the morning.
— Theresa yelled at Donna for running off, with everything that was happening last night, she was worried that the group had done something to her.
Post-Doomcoming
— Theresa didn't involve herself in the JackieShauna fight and refused to form any opinion on it, she thought that it would resolve itself by the morning like a lot of teenage disagreements do.
— Similar to how she felt about Laura Lee's death, she felt partially responsible for Jackie's death. She was the only able-bodied adult in the situation, in her mind, she should have done something.
Donna Lowe-Liang
Crash
— Donna sat with Travis on the plane, and she escaped with minor injuries. She was too out of it to pay attention to anyone, and she got off the plane before it exploded.
— She found with her mother, glad that they both survived.
— Donna stumbled around blindly, wanting to help but not knowing what to do.
— Donna's secret that she shared at the campfire that night was that she tried a cigarette one time, but she finished it too quickly and threw up.
— Theresa was not around during the campfire, she was canvasing the area around the plane, searching (not actually, she just needed to be alone) for her bag.
Lake
— She voted to stay at the plane, since her mother did as well. She thought that the transmitter would be able to bring them to safety, so she figured that there would be no point in leaving.
— Donna swam in the lake with the team, glad that Mari chose to lay on the shore instead.
Cabin
— When they arrive at the cabin, Donna is fascinated by Cabin Guy and the symbols, as she had always had an eye for the morute.
— This fascination caused Mari and Donna to have their first verbal interaction in the Wilderness, wherein Mari called her a freak.
— They had a spat, and it was only stopped when Theresa pulled her daughter aside and sternly told her to be polite, not knowing the extent of the full context.
— When they had the gun competition, Donna failed horrendously.
— She picked up whatever chores she had to, as she didn't yet have a set job.
— Donna participated happily in the seance, but became terrified when Lottie had her 'episode'.
— When Tai left south, Donna did not even consider leaving with her. She longed to figure out what was happening, and she would lose her ability to do that once she left.
— When Laura Lee proposed how she wanted to fly the plane, Donna told her it wasn't a good idea.
— When she blew up, Donna found herself unable to feel the extent of the emotions that she thought she should feel. Not in a 'she had it coming' way, but in a way that Donna knew that (and was insecure about how) she had always struggled with emotional responses to severe situations.
Doomcoming
— Donna was originally opposed to Doomcoming, because she wanted to conserve supplies to survive as long as possible.
— She eventually folded, and enjoyed the first bit of Doomcoming.
— After the psychedelics began to kick in, she stumbled away from the party, the only person who noticed was Mari. She followed Donna, and the pair finally had a cordial conversation for the first time in almost two years.
— Mari revealed that she never actually thought that Bella had been telling the truth, but she was afraid what it would mean for her to break from the group. But out here, none of that mattered.
— They both apologized to eachother, and laughed about everything they had done to make eachother hate the other over the past two years.
— Rather participating in the Travis assault, they laid in the dirt a decent distance away from the cabin and then returned in the morning.
Post-Doomcoming
— During the JackieShauna fight, Donna refuses to offer an opinion to anyone. The premise, tone, and events of the argument remind her of her quarrel with Mari, so she believes that this will work itself out in due time.
— Jackie dies, and Donna is, again, unable to bring herself to feel the proper amount of empathy. Her inability to experience empathy in any way that doesn't feel performative had always been a big source of insecurity for her. She thought that she should have been able to, especially since Jackie was one of her longest-running friends.
