define ‘murder bot’ || pepper & tony
@itspcppcr
He's exhausted. It's almost noon and he's been banging away at the same elbow joint for almost nine hours, trying to force it to move the way he wants. Perfect. Like a human's. He's smashed his thumb in it at least once, possibly twice but he's honestly so tired that some scenes from the last two days are missing. Or foggy.
Tony looks over his work, blows the metal shavings off and climbs off his stool, hell-bent for the creepily life-like android standing lifeless in the middle of his studio. He lifts the joint to the end of it's half-finished arm, right where the elbow would be, and starts to punch in its rivets when he hears someone walk in. Doesn't even know if they've said anything because his sleep-deprived brain is on fumes. He throws a grey sheet over his android and plants himself between it and the visitor -- a visitor who just happens to be his wife, "Is this a check-up? Hmm? You’re checking up on me? I'm not gonna be here all night. Promised, remember?"

Welcome to the Jungle || Alaric & Tony
allroundlostcause:
Alright, okay. It had been weird to think of Tony Stark being on the side of the general vampire population and it’s good to know he got that wrong. Alaric takes a breath out. Also, the whole ‘mocking Alaric’s threat’ thing, he’s gonna ignore.
It’s not like there’s a trick to it. Is there a trick to it? Alaric thinks over everything he’s ever read in the old Watcher diaries.
“They’re hard to kill because they’re street-smart, fast and for the most part, well-trained. Weaknesses…? I hear they’re more likely than the average to actually fall for vampires.” As if Alaric has a leg to stand on there. “Better body armor, better training… I’d like to look at whatever data you have. I have some primary sources I can look through. I’d rather look at more efficient ways to end vamps.”
"More efficient! More efficient ways to kill vampires, see I knew we were soul mates from the moment I laid eyes on that transcript." he takes Ric by the shoulders, gives one of them a firm and fond pat and bites the edge of a smile, "Oh, the places we'll go."
"Riddle me this, what's more efficient than a human street fighter?" Tony leaves Alaric standing in the middle of the room, calling out to his computer, "F.R.I.D.A.Y., pull up the BOT PROTOCAL infodocs on Warren Mears? You're gonna wanna pay attention to this, Alaric." he makes a face, looking back, "Alaric. Ala-ric. Are you married to that name?"

allroundlostcause:
Alright, Alaric is impressed. And… this looks like it was made from his own specs, this one, but – probably a coincidence. Anyway; “Yeah, this stuff, I can help with,” he says, nodding seriously. “The wood needs work. I get the best results when I soak it in resin and bake it. Improves the trajectory, and the impact, and the accuracy…”
But it’s all a good size, heft, all the rest of it. “Vampires, werewolves, ghouls… I’ll be up-front, here, I have vampire friends and if you ever try to lay a finger on them I’ll end you, suit or no suit.” More likely he’ll try and then Tony will end him. The threat still seems relevant. “I can talk to you about slayers, but kill them? Forget that. If that’s something you’re looking to do, I’m out.”
"Did you just?" Tony's tickled to death by this. Alaric flexing his Big Man Muscles is an actual treat, given that Tony's got bitey, scary monsters on his tail on the regular. He smiles broadly, rests his elbows on the table in front of his new associate and his chin in his hands like he's twitterpated, "Did... I hear a threat? Why, I do believe I heard a threat. That's presh. I wish I could frame that and hang it on my wall next to all my other threats."
He rolls his eyes and straightens up, walks around the table to put Alaric's file in his hands, "Relax, Jones. This isn't about killing them, it's about patching up the holes in their armor. I don't know if you've read the tabloids but we have a real, live Vampire Slayer punching a time card here now. Let's keep her safe."

magimath:
“See ya!” she called after Faith as she made her way out of the room, before her eyes moved back to the display before her. It honestly reminded her of how her synesthesia manifested, and she had to fold her hands behind her back to remind herself that it wasn’t hers to fiddle with.
When he finally spoke directly to her, Cassie’s eyes moved off of the hologram and onto the man that was manipulating it. It was odd to see him in person rather than on the news or the cover of a magazine, and it was taking everything in her to try to keep her cool so that she didn’t have a fangirl freak out all over the poor guy.
Human Google. Cassie wasn’t certain if she was going to like that one or not, but at least it wasn’t Math Girl. "Cillian,“ she reminded him. "Cassandra Cillian. – And yeah, I have. High powered microscope” she added with a nod, wondering where he was going with this.
"Right, what am I saying? Of course you have. So, you know about the ridging?" he reaches into the hologram, grasps a small speck of dust and blows it up to the size of a basketball - it's a fish scale, "Almost all exo's have this ridging in some form, Ms. Cillian. Skin, scales, even feathers. Like a fingerprint under the microscope."
He reaches left, again, and highlights his 'molecule', "Do you know what this is? Hmm? It's a peptide, I think. We took it off a biosample from another entire universe. Carbon doesn't seem to exist there, not in the way it does here so life? If that's what you wanna call it. Life's not carbon-based, there. The most intriguing thing, they have atoms? But, they don't. Lemme show you." he blows up the molecule larger, until the hologram surrounds them like a bubble and fills the room. Tony plucks something vaguely atomic out of the contents and blows that up, too, "See that? It's got it's proton, it's got it's neutron - just one of each, but that's a whole other deal - but look at the center. Where's the nucleus? Where is it? I've run tests, I've tried to coax the neutrons away, but the damn thing is acting like the center has mass --- a lot of mass. It doesn't. I've never seen anything like it. Can you imagine what the fish scales would look like in a universe like that?"
legendofootloose:
Pepper rolled her eyes and let out an exhausted ugh, “You’re crazy. Do you know that? You’re a crazy person and you’re gonna get yourself killed.” she pointed out as she walked across his lab to pick up some paperwork he was supposed to have signed yesterday, “If you plan to shoot yourself into the sun, do I really have to be here for that?” Pepper sighed and approached Tony with the paperwork, holding it out to him, “Not signed. You promised I wouldn’t have to chase you down for this.”
“Have to?” Tony’s oddly offended by that statement, “Uh. Get to.” he unstraps his arm from what’s clearly a new suit arm and flexes his muscle like Popeye — sore as hell. Suit’s already too tight, that or his recent dinners of chips and salsa are going right to his shoulders. He winces, looking over the gauntlet like he just noticed a flaw in a giant diamond when Pepper tries to make him work and Tony just bucks it, puts both hands up, “Eh. Handing me things… you know I don’t like that.”

“Tell me you’re not actually going to do that.”
"Wha- it's just a dry run, I swear this thing's safe." Tony tries his hardest to see Pepper over his shoulder, from his seat strapped into what looks like a gigantic, robotic catapult, "It's, like... 17% safe. Don't panic."
Welcome to the Jungle || Alaric & Tony
allroundlostcause:
Somewhere deep inside there is a gigantic nerd who wants to press allll the buttons, just to find out what happens. Actually, it’s not that deep. It’s… more on the surface, actually. It’s nice, since he had been expecting to be overwhelmed and tongue-tied (this is, after all, Tony Stark) but instead he just wants to take something apart and figure out how it works. “Yeah, that’s the basics,” he says, with a shrug. The fact that it doesn’t say ‘ex-vampire’ or even ‘ex-ghost-vampire’ is nice. “And since my weapons are mostly inspired by long-dead Hungarian monks and not Battlestar Galactica, I’m not sure how useful I’d be to you on that front. But lore, yeah. Picking the myths from the horrifyingly true… witchcraft, lycanthropy, that I can help you with.”
"Actually," Tony stops on the other side of a table that's covered with a tissue sheet. He makes a big to-do about pulling the tissue away, revealing the make-shift monster hunting weapons he's already got. Prototypes, cobbled together during lunch breaks, "I think your weapon-making skills are gonna come in very handy. We need the lore, the myths. Everything you can suss about vampires and Vampire Slayers. Preferably the latter. Turns out it's a thing, who knew? I wanna know everything. How they're called, what they do and how you kill one. You know. For science."
Welcome to the Jungle || Alaric & Tony
Tony walks the length of his office, or what would be considered an office if it weren't cluttered with toys and half-finished projects. He's in a folder, looking through a list of accolades on the second page of it's contents as he approaches Alaric, "High school teacher, college professor, expertise in lore and mythology." he slips a page out of the folder and snaps it shut in his hand, "Vampire hunter. And, this is interesting..." holding the paper out in front of him, "It says here you custom make your own weapons. So, Mr. Saltzman, why the heck aren't you already working for me?"

Cap stood a little firmer and a little taller with fury starting to crinkle at the corners of his eyes, “You did digging… on Slayer. Whatever happened to not doubting one of our own?” he asked, getting marginally louder as he watched Tony stride by him. Incredible. How did he have the audacity to make the calls he made? “She’s one of us. Like it or not.”
He followed in that rigid soldier manner he had. Anger bubbling beneath a calm if threatening surface, “Banner can handle himself in a best-case scenario, Tony. How many of those have we had lately? If he’s going off-script… going vampire hunting. You’re damn right I’m worried and you should be, too. Maybe if we taught Faith the lullaby.” he sighed and watched Tony play with his toys, “I’d just feel better if we had a team behind her that wasn’t a bigger threat than what she’s already facing. Buffy, too. They need help.”
Tony's eyes pinch shut and, when they finally open, it's in a roll, "Do you know what this is?" he motions to the first screen to pop up, a news video that looks a hell of a lot like Iron Man torching a government building, "This is Rocket Man. That's right, Rocket Man. This asshole used to work for me. Stole my specs, stole one of my suits and now he's a hitman for hire in Dubai. Or, how about this?" he uses his hands to physically pull another hologram up, this one a newspaper headline about a former Stark Industry employee on the lam for selling military secrets, "As you can see, I've got problems of my own, Cap. Faith's a Vampire Slayer, they've been doing this alone for how many eons now?"
He sighs, swipes the screens away and folds his arms, "They have help. Whatever they need, you know that, but we've gotta keep their world from spilling over into ours."
Mistletoe + Cassie
thatslayer:
Cassie’s not hard to figure out. Her moods play across her features like kids on a playground, rambling every which way, bright and happy and excited. Faith envies her, at times. The ease with which she seems to tread in the light, something Faith’s never managed to come anywhere near mastering. Can’t even get a toe in the light, these days, and not trying as hard as she should be.
She returns Cassie’s enthusiasm with a smirk, shrugs as they walk, “Hey, the boys need all the help they can get. Got big brains, but they’re still men, yo — gonna have to show ‘em the way of the samurai, girl.”
When they find Tony, he’s ignoring them. Not on purpose, it just is what it is and Faith slips away from Cassie, behind Tony’s holographic monitor and shoves her fist right through the model he’s working on - bird flipped right in his face until he dismisses the screen and gives her a shitty look. She grins at him, leans on the table and motions to Cassie with her free hand, “Genius, meet Super Genius. Girl can do math in her head like you ain’t even seen. Research faster than a computer, man.”
“You said you wanted more brains? Here’s more brains.” she doesn’t let him respond, leaves the table and walks past Cassie, giving her a gentle thump on the shoulder with a balled-up fist, “Go get 'em, Tiger. Lemme know if he cries.” winks and gives Tony another glance over her shoulder, then heads back towards the elevator and out of the room. She wouldn’t know what they were talking about, anyway, and somewhere around this place, there’s a hotter genius to bother.
- next: @allmytricksandtoys
Tony sighs, gives Faith a look to end all looks when she shoves her stupid hand through his hologram and into his day. He lets her intro, watches her walk off and then sighs a, "Love you, too, Pooky." at the woman, glad to be rid of her for the day.
He’s got too much to do to play house sitter to just anyone, and frankly, any friend of Faith’s is under immediate suspicion, but when someone offers him a brilliant mind to play with? He just can’t resist. Call it a downfall fetish.
"Show me... configuration... no, wait. Scratch that. Give me the B specs on the Casbar suit." he's not ignoring Cassie, just entrenched in his work and when his specs splay out in front of him in a hologram, he finally takes note of her, "So you're Human Google? I've heard good things."
He reaches into a hologram in the corner of the ‘screen’ that looks like a planet being circled by several moons, mimes grabbing the two opposite moons and slowly draws the whole thing apart - it's not a planet, it's a molecule. Sort of.
"Ever seen a fish scale up close before, Miss... what was your name, again?"
@magimath
“i love you, i’m lucky. “
@littlebennettbitch
“Uh, excuse me? Am I hearing a lecture? I’m hearing a lecture.” he sighs, buckles down to shave a few millimeters off of a model faceplate that his new suit will be built around, "Nobody actually wants innocent people to get hurt, Witchypoo. I've seen war first hand on a scale you couldn't even imagine. No, trust me when I say that some rules are meant to be broken. I'm playing five-dimensional chess, here, people. I've got a strategy. Mostly."
