memento mori
content: ateez x afab! reader, thriller, fluff, angst, smut, wednesday au. warnings: mild gore, horror-thriller elements, sexual themes, more warnings to be added with each chapter.
summary: when wednesday transfers to nevermore, you, her elder sister follows, ready to carry on your parent legacy. unfortunately, plans are ruined when you meet a group of eight boys and a masked dream-stealer. can you stop your younger sister from entangling herself in this dangerous mystery while trying to navigate your own emotions and solve this yourself?
notes: i recently binged both season one and two of wednesday, hence this series beginning lol. hopefully it doesn’t stray too far from the original source material, but i tried to add my own flair too!
Echoes of a Fading Flame
Every tear that falls from my eyes feels like a million shards embedding in my heart.
I felt lonely—smiling to daylight, while a thousand thoughts flooded me by night.
I wished to disappear, yet what is a heart without a flicker of fear?
They say courage is found within belief, but what becomes of a heart consumed by grief?
I too once dreamed—
but dreams fade when the purpose of the soul can no longer be reaped.
Like a flickering candle who lost against the wind, I too, wanted to fight.
But before my soul could ascend to brighter heights, a quiet death had already taken flight,
I longed to burn, to shine against the night yet their whispers, faint and cruel, made my flame say goodnight.
