The very first thing that Netflix should let go of is a two part season. I don't think it worked very well for season 4 in particular. Everyone knew about Benedict's offer. For season 3 it worked because they changed the LW reveal and the cliffhanger was a marriage proposal which the fans of the book and General audience both liked.

I am not a fan of the two part season either. I don’t think it has helped the storyline flow.

But I don’t think the carriage scene going viral would have happened without it, so it’s a quagmire.

Jess trying to recreate viral moments in S4, like S3 had, is part of the problem.

Viral moments just happen naturally.

When you try to manufacture and manipulate them, they turn out to be duds.

But personally I always felt that the carriage scene and mistress question was always going to be the Part 1 end. No surprise here.

And fun fact, I wasn’t enamored with either of them, but at least the carriage scene was rewatchable.

I get want anon means about Yerin. I feel bad that she hasn’t had as many opportunities as the Heated Rivalry or Off Campus stars.

Of course she shouldn’t be compared to Nicola but other unknowns in breakout roles in hit shows. Maybe those other shows were more buzzy than Bridgerton and that’s been the difference.

The media landscape is an interesting study.

As is the way algorithms work.

I literally would not know about those shows were it not for you Anon’s discussing them in my asks.

I hardly see anything online about them, nor am I interested in seeking out any information on them or their cast.

I think perceptions are playing a role here.

Anyway, I’m extremely happy for Yerin for the success of S4 and I am looking forward to seeing her succeed. She is a lovely person and a good actor.

Now, I am for sure biased, but I really would not be surprised to find out that carriage 2.0 was the most watched scene of S4.

Regardless, I really hope Jess/Shonda are coming to the realization that kicking fan favorites to the curb after their season is a majorly bad move. Something tells me they aren’t the kind of folks to admit mistakes, though.

Of course they won’t. They are pretty set in their ways and do little reflection IMO.

You misunderstood me, I think. I'm not saying that she is not doing fine, I just thought she would be the breakout star of s4, blowing up more. A bit like how you expected even more opportunities for Nicola after s3, you know? Yerin is bright and talented as well, I'm sure she will continue to do amazing things, I just want them to happen for her soon.

I don’t think Nicola and Yerin are comparable.

Nicola had a breakout role from Derry Girls, was already a main character for 2 seasons of Bridgerton, was cultivating brand deals, going to Met Gala and doing guest appearances on Rupal’s Drag Race. Plus being a social media guru and an outspoken activist who garnered a lot of media attention.

Yerin had none of these things coming into S4 of Bridgerton, so my expectations of where Nicola is vs Yerin is in their careers is very different and not really comparable.

Yerin is just starting out, whereas Nicola is established.

I'm quite surprised that Yerin did not get more popular from Bridgerton. She has everything: smart, beautiful, very fun to watch, great chemistry on/off screen with Luke T and the cast, strong performance. I thought that being of Korean descent was an adventage for her, yet she is "only" at 1,7 mil instagram followers, no main brand collab as far as I know, and no new project yet. Maybe promo was really disjointed, the January/February release not the best and Bridgerton is losing its momentum.

I think Yerin is doing just fine for herself.

She’s currently in her second run of The Maids Off Broadway in NYC and is also filming S5 of Bridgerton for the foreseeable future.

She is well liked and respected in the Bridgerton fandom and gained most of that 1.7m from Bridgerton.

She has already gained some traction for some awards and has only been acting since 2019.

Give her some time. I think we will see good things from her!
