Six mallets?!

Carolina Crown’s pit is using six mallets this year. Even as someone who can play four mallets, I struggle to see how people would manage six.

To the Crown pit peeps out there: you’re superhuman or something and have my utmost respect.

Yeah, we have a lot of props on the field this year. Guess who’s decision that is? Design staff. Literally no one else has control over that and regardless of our opinion we take what we get and manage it.

Carolina Crown’s 2014 Preview for “Out of This World”

I can’t help but think crown is kind of hilarious. Like they won for the first time last year (and don’t get me wrong, I think they deserved it), but now they’re still the same kids, except with rings, and everyone is flippin and they’re all out there like “hehehe yeah I guess we’re rock stars or something yeah ok”

It's also the first new champion DCI's had since 1996 (and they're the only corps to have won both Division I/World Class and Division II/Open Class. Especially having come in twice before? I mean, it's a great thing for DCI to have another champion and they're also not "used" to getting gold.

“For almost every day last month Malaysian artist/architect Hong Yi (who often goes by the nickname Red) created a fun illustration made with common (and occasionally not so common) food. Her parameters were simple: the image had to be comprised entirely of food and the only backdrop could be a white plate. With that in mind Yi set out to create landscapes, animals, homages to pop culture, and even a multi-frame telling of the three little pigs.
