One day of Henry's life - Haruko Maeda. Just one of the beautiful paintings currently on show at AVA. (at All Visual Arts)
Multiplicity - Alastair Mackie. Were open today till 6pm. (at All Visual Arts)
Alastair Mackie. 2013. Complex System 399. Cuttlebone, wood, glass. 176 x 118 x 7 cm.
See this and other beautiful cuttlebone creations from tomorrow's private view (Thursday 20th June 7-9pm), until 3rd August at AVA.
Julie Heffernan. 2013. Self Portrait as Study for Hikers. Oil on canvas. 127 x 138 cm.
See both of these new pieces from tomorrow night's private view (June 20th 7-9pm) until 3rd August!
Julie Heffernan. 2013. Self Portrait as Gatherer. Oil on canvas. 173 x 168 cm.
See this work alongside another new piece from Heffernan at AVA tomorrow night! Private view 7-9pm.
Dolly Thompsett. 2013. Expedition Interior. Mixed media on linen. 180 x 125cm.
Dolly Thompsett. 2013. Dawn. Mixed media on linen. 180 x 125 cm.
See this and other new works by Dolly Thompsett at AVA's private view, tomorrow (Thursday 20th June) 7-9pm.
Dolly Thompsett. 2011. Guarding the Ruins. Mixed media on linen. 230 x 166 cms.
In Guarding the Ruins, Thompsett presents us with an atmospheric environment that hovers somewhere between watery depths and heavenly heights. Skewing spatial logic, this work plays with the presumed distance from the viewer through the striking layering of paint, physically and conceptually immersing the viewer.
See more of Thompsett's work at AVA from tomorrow. All are welcome to our private view in the evening, (Thursday 20th June) 7-9pm, and from then the exhibition will run until August 3rd.
Terrific taxidermy
Lovely little interview with Alistair Mackie from 2011 at Don't Panic. Recommended reading before you come down to AVA to see Mackie's new work tomorrow night!Â
The private view is from 7-9pm tomorrow, Thursday 20th June. The exhibition will run until 3rd August though, so plenty of time to pop in.Â
The works for our next show have started arriving. Join us this Thursday 20th to be one of the first to see them. (at All Visual Arts)
Alastair Mackie. 2012. Complex System 465. Cuttlebone, wood, glass. 178 x 7cmÂ
In Complex System 465, cuttlefish bones are cut to conform to their underlying geometry of elongated hexagonals and assembled to form a perfect artefact of twenty-first century conceptual minimalist art. With this, Alistair Mackie highlights the innate unease at the heart of our relationship to the natural world. See more of Mackie's works like this on Thursday 20th June 7-9pm at All Visual Arts.
What a tease. Can't wait to see #AlastairMackie's new work. Be the first next Thursday 20th June. 7-9pm (at All Visual Arts)
We cannot wait to unwrap #alastairmackie's new work. Private view June 20th 7-9pm. (at All Visual Arts)
What's in the box? #AlastairMackie #AVA
The new Tote has arrived.
A drawing of a birds nest made from the carbon of the cremated birds remains. A lovely depiction of the circle of life, made complete with a taxidermied chic on the frame.
