Today marks 4 years of being smoke-free. I have not drunk alcohol for more than 5 years. 8 years ago I went to Berlin, went through one of my deepest valleys and then startet to live physically and mentally healthier.

My background is in the left alternative/autonomous scene. Lots of concerts, lots of alcohol, no plan. Today I am 6 years in my job and have a lot of moments in which I miss my old life. Especially the escalation. Not the alcohol, but not smoking is still so hard for me after 4 years and I would be lost without my Indian incense sticks.

Today could be a day to celebrate, but it’s a really hard day. I’m listening to an old time band and it triggers my addiction extremely. So bad that I feel sorry for myself and cry.

(Fun Fact: I used so many Indian incense sticks today that my fire detector sounded the alarm.)
