When all the drama all settled, I imagine a sweet scene with my dearest Kaitlyn
On the last night of winter quarter, you sit with Kaitlyn on your bed. Your backs against the wall, trying to process everything that has happened the last few months.
Kaitlyn: “Quite a quarter, don’t you think?”
The tips of her mouth curl up a tiny bit but there’s a trace of worries left in her eyes. You reach for her hand, holding it tight in your own.
You: “You know I’m really proud of you, Kaitlyn.”
Her eyes brightens. She leans to give you a soft kiss on the cheek and cuddle up to you, resting her head on your shoulder.
Kaitlyn: “I’m just glad you were with me. You are the best.”
You kiss the top of her head, smiling as you savour this very moment. Your hands are still clasped together, and you begin to close your eyes.
Suddenly Kaitlyn pulls her head off your shoulder. You instantly opened your eyes. You find Kaitlyn sitting straight up, turning to face you. There’s determination in her eyes.
Kaitlyn: “No, nothing’s wrong. I just-”
She takes a deep breathe as you look at her with an eyebrow up, unable to hide your confusion. Her eyes were drifting down.
You gently lift her chin, and stare right into her beautiful eyes, concerned.
Kaitlyn: “I- I just want you to know that… I love you, (Your Name).”
Your eyes widen a little, clearly surprised.
You: “Kaitlyn, I- I-”
Kaitlyn: “No, no, no you don’t have to say anything back.
I just wanted you to know that you make me so so happy. I feel like the luckiest girl on earth and I feel brave when I am with you. You bring out the best of me and if that’s not love- then I don’t know what is.”
You moved your hands to her cheeks and lean in, kissing her deeply on the lips. Tips of your fingers tangled in her hair as her arms tighten around you.
Finally you pull away, just enough to look her deep in her eyes. Your noses touching.
You: “I love you too, Kaitlyn. And I’m the lucky one.”
A bright happy smile spreads across her face. Her eyes are dancing. She pulls you closer and kiss you again, holding you tighter than before, like she would never let you go.
