They’d done this song and dance before and he knew that she wasn’t going to let up on him until he told her what was wrong “Just a nightmare.” he told her; part of him still hoping she’d just accept that and move on, but it’d been so long since he’d had an actual nightmare that he knew she wouldn’t buy that in a heartbeat .”You and our possible unborn child gunned down in the alley where they died.”
Bruce knew that he didn’t need to specify; they both knew his entire life revolved around single moment in time. One moment where he’d just been a scared little child watching his parents gunned down.
Now he was the one who did the scaring.
“I’ll get over it, I just…found a good workout clears the mind better than just trying to go to sleep.” he told her, his attention turning back ot her “Besides I’m not tired and I have a few files of evidence to sort through in the batcomputer…” He trailed off and stared at the ground for a moment before looking up “You should go back to sleep; you need it.”
Selina hated that he was having nightmares about her being pregnant and getting shot, and she had to focus on helping him through this. Yes, a selfish part of her loved that even in the farthest recesses of his mind, he was happy with the idea of being together and expecting a baby, but he was worried he’d lose her…and how he lost his parents.
She could be taken from him in an instant…but the reverse was true too.
“I know you’re not tired, Bruce,” she said, leaning up to press her lips to his. “I know that you say that anyway. You’re exhausted. You need sleep, and you need rest, but you also need your city and you need to be the one to save her. You won’t lose me that way, though. You and I are two of the most amazing people that I know, and should we be having a baby, you can bet your ass that we’d have one. I’ll be carrying him or her to term and make you suffer along with me. Food cravings, sex cravings: all of it.”
Perhaps this conversation should have been a bit more serious, but this was how Selina dealt with these things. I have nightmares too, about my past coming to have a whack at you and while our fears are valid, look at me, okay? Look me in the eye. I am going to stick around to be a pain in your ass for many, many years to come. No one will ever rob me of the satisfaction of smothering you with love.”

“They would be very spoiled.” Between herself and Dick alone, the child would be treated like a little prince or princess. And that’s not including what Bruce would do, or anyone else in the house. Briar gave her a smile, “I understand. I know it would be great for them. I promise.” She nodded, “Sometimes I wonder if it’s weird that it’s just been me and Francis for ever. I mean, I don’t think he’s ever dated someone else. And I haven’t. But I can’t think of being with anyone other than him.” She smiled more, “I am all for you to settling down.”
Selina smiled and shook her head. “I think it’s kind of romantic if you fancy that kind of notion. I mean...I’ve been with a couple of people other than Bruce, but it has always been Bruce, you know? He has always been my person and the one person other than you that always saw the good in me even when I couldn’t see it in myself. Honestly? I think that Bruce and Francis are the kind of men that you hold onto--the kind of people that you hold onto. It’s about how they make us feel and what’s inside of their hearts, not what number they are in our lives.” She was definitely feeling that want of a baby thing now: Bruce deserved it even if she might not.
Harley’s eyes widened in shock.
Oh god, did she want to k i l l him. To have her hands wrapped around his throat, that would be a dream come true. But the very thought of him was unsettling; his laughter, his smile, his f a c e was forever plastered in her mind.
However, Selina seemed perfectly fine with idea. Though Harley wasn’t sure if she was going to allow her friend to to dip right back into something they both were trying to pry away from.
“Kitten–wait, what? I…I thought hurtin’ people was th’ last thing you wanted to do? I…”
Selina nodded slowly at the words. “I know, Harls, but I just...there are things that I think make the exception part of the book, don’t you?”
She knew that she shouldn’t go after the Joker to kill him--especially k i l l him of all things, but he had hurt her friend. Someone that she considered to be part of her family in a whole number of ways. If there was one thing that Selina didn’t tolerate, it was hurting her family.
“If he hurt you, I will hurt him back. You mean that much to me.”

Amber eyes flickered back up to look at her, before he nodded. “I know.” He knew quite well that Selina would make the ones that hurt Briar regret touching her. And as much as he wanted to do that, he didn’t have the training. “Just make sure to bash their head double for me.” He sat down, taking a deep breath, “Be careful, Selina.”
Selina smiled a little bit, glad that he understood that. “I will bash their heads in really good, I promise you that. No one touches my kitten and gets away with it. Just...perhaps part of this should be kept between you and me. Bruce hates when I get all revenge-vendetta on peoples’ asses, but I don’t have a choice here and even if I did, we both know I’d still go down this road.”
"GCPD, open up."
Selina admittedly jumped when she heard that, always hating a visit from them. In fact, she and the GCPD didn’t have a good relationship…well, at least them and Catwoman didn’t have a good relationship. Opening up the door though, she tried to pass off as calm. “What can I do you for?”
Vincent was fuming, but turned to face her smug satisfaction hidden behind that stone face. “If you’d like to make an official statement, then please, be my guest.”
Selina tilted her head to the side in a very catlike fashion. “Look, I’m not sure if you can call this an ‘official statement’ but, I think you need to start looking for something a lot more obvious than an illegitimate child. Word around East End is that Falcone has had a couple of lucrative deals come through recently...I’m sure you guys were alerted already, but if not, you should look there.” Maybe the underbelly of Gotham gossiped more than that, but Selina honestly didn’t want to be all that more involved in case her other identity got dragged into it.
“I mean, I’ve played it a few times, just not much,” he told her, “But I’d love to play some pool.”
Selina smiled as the bartender brought some drinks over, looking at the Doctor so he could get something good ordered for himself. Then she staked out a table and claimed it for their own for now, looking at him. “You know,” she began as she sipped the drink, “you’re very curious, but I like you.”

Selina had been a little caught off guard when Bruce kissed her, but she smiled into it and kissed him back. There might have been things that she couldn’t talk to him about, about her nightlife, but she could definitely do this. In fact if he wasn’t careful, she could get very, very used to this.
“So was that your secret plan, Bruce?” Selina asked, shaking her head with a laugh. “Invite me as your date and then blind sight me with a kiss? I’m easily started, you might need to proceed with caution,” she teased, but that much was also true.
In fact when it came to Bruce, she seemed to get started quickly too.
Pulling back, Selina threw him a wink and then she smiled genuinely at him. “I’ll have a talk with Alfred about measurements and then I’ll get back to you on the rest of it. I’m sure I’ll be told the exact details, but I want to surprise you with the dress,” she admitted to him.
