It’s been three months ever since I moved to Seoul, South Korea and became a professional back up dancer for GOT7. On the first day of practice, we were almost late because Mark slept in and wouldn’t get up. I have been living with Mark ever since I came to Korea but known him for a long time. It’s a good thing that I found my own apartment. From day one to now, I got really close with the boys, Jaebeom, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, Bam Bam and Yuygeom.
“Okay everyone. That is practice today. I will see you into two days.” Our choreographer said. Now that practice is over, I can finally go home and rest. I grabbed my bag and was leaving the room until Mark called me over.
“Did you wanna go karaoke with us?” He asked.
“Sure. Why not?” I response. He told me that they were leaving right after practice. Lucky me, I brought extra clothes. I went to the bathroom to change into my second outfit, a pair of jeans, a black crop sweater with a white tank top underneath and Nike Jordan.
“Finally. You were taking forever.” Bam Bam said as they were waiting for me. Jaebeom, leader of the group, hit his chest.
“I’m sorry for the wait. Let’s go!” We all exited out of the building. They decided to walk to the nearest place. It was big and wasn’t busy.
“Wait. Wait. Who’s paying?” They all looked at each other.
“I thought we promise each other.” Jaebeom mention.
“Promise each other what?” Jackson acting all innocent.
“Fine. Jaebeom-Hyung is right. We all should pay for each other.” Youngjae said. They all went to go pay for themselves. I was the last one to pay. I went up to the lady.
“Uhm miss. He already paid for you.” She said in Korean and pointed. I turned to see who she was pointing at. It was Jaebeom.
“Thank you.” I said to her and bowed. All the guys went to the room first while Jaebeom and I were behind. I grabbed the hem of his sleeved.
“Hey. You didn’t need to pay for me.” I spoke. He gave me a small smile.
“Someone has to pay for the lady.” I blushed and looked away. Someone opens the door.
“Are you two coming? Or are you going to flirt?” My face becomes redder and hotter.
“I’m coming.” I spoke and walked into the room leaving Jaebeom behind. Youngjae was already singing with Yugyeom. Everyone was cheering for them. Then, it was Bam Bam turn and let me just say. He is a funny singer. That is why he is the rapper in the group. His voice kept cracking. I couldn’t help but laugh so hard that I was crying. Bam Bam finished singing and we couldn’t stop laughing.
“Alright. Since Bam Bam is done, why don’t Sunny and Jaebeom-Hyung sing together?” My eyes widen and I mouth at Mark. “What are you doing?” All he gave me was a thumbs up.
“GO SUNNY!” Jackson yelled. Jinyoung hits Jackson head.
“And Jaebeom-hyung.” I giggled at Jackson. Jackson is always the one getting mad fun of.
“Are you ready?” Jaebeom asked. I nodded.
“What song should we sing?” I asked him. He shrugged his shoulders. We both didn’t know what song to sing.
“Oh Oh! Best Part! Sunny is really good at singing it.” Oh my god. Mark is literally exposing me! I pointed at him and gave him a thumbs down.
“I think it will be awesome!” Youngjae added.
“DO IT! DO IT!” Bam Bam and Yuygeom chant. I’m going to kill Mark for this. He purposely doing this.
“Okay.” Jaebeom said. He looked for the song and began the video. The music began with Jaebeom singing Daniel Caesar’s part. His voice was beautiful just like the rest of the group. They are all talented men. Then it was mine turn to sing Kali Uchis’s part and I was nervous. I never sing in front of a group before. I sang my heart out.
It was the ending of the song, Jaebeom and I decided to harmonize the ending together. We both looked at each other, staring at each other eyes and then the boys were cheering. I almost forgot they were in the room.
“You guys should make a cover.” Jinyoung said while we were getting back to our seat.
“Hopefully someday.” I laughed awkwardly. It was getting awkward. After singing everyone favorite song “Bang Bang Bang” by Big Bang, we were all tired from singing our heart out and dancing. We all decided to call it a day and go home.
“I’m going to head out first.” I said while they were in a huddle.
“Isn’t your place far?” Jackson asked.
“No. It’s about a 15-minute walk.” I chuckled for being a gentleman. They were trying to convince me to take the taxi, but I kept refusing.
“Guys, I will be fine. I had fun tonight. Bye.” I waved goodbye to them while they were still planning to convince me. I began walking away until I heard a voice called my name.
“I will take you home.” The figure said on my right side. It was Jaebeom.
“Jaebeom, you don’t have to go with me.” Now, I felt bad.
“No, as the leader of GOT7, I have to protect a dance member of mine and responsibly for you. Plus, I don’t live that far either.”
“Fine, you win this time. But don’t tell me they forced you.”
“No, they didn’t. It was my choice.”
The walk was beautiful with the stars hanging above us, the nice cool weather and peaceful. It was awkward at first, but we made some conversations. He was telling me about his five cats he owns. Then he talked about his personal life until we reached my apartment.
“Well, it ends here.” Jaebeom said. The walk that we spent together, I kind off don’t want him to leave but it was getting late.
“Yeah… Thanks for taking me home. Again, you didn’t have to.”
“No problem. It could be dangerous at night though.” I shake my head for agreeing with him.
“Well see you in two days.” I walked to my apartment building until he called my name. I stopped my tracks and turned around. He walks toward me.
“Can we record the cover?” He looked away and had his arm behind his neck. He was so cute. I chuckled.
“Really!” He was surprised. I nod.
“Okay. Okay.” He said in English.
“Uhm, you have my number already. I will text you when I’m free and the address.” I smile at him.
“Okay. Uhm. Goodnight.” He said being awkward and shy.
“Goodnight.” I response. I waved at him and turned around. I covered my mouth, walked inside and was screaming quietly. I have a fricken date. I got inside of my apartment and began with my night routine. I get a text nofication and I thought it was Mark, but it was Jaebeom.
Goodnight. I really have fun tonight singing with you and everyone. You have a beautiful voice.
That made my night. That whole night, I couldn’t stop smiling and looking at the text. Jaebeom made my heartbeat differently.
