David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, and Paul McCartney at Live Aid because honestly what could possibly be cooler than these three all together.

Dog, Paul McCartney and Dutch abstract expressionist, Willem De Kooning at the latterâs house in East Hampton in 1983. Photo by Linda McCartney.
McCartney and De Kooning had similar work methods. One was what De Kooning called âexploring the accidentâ, where instead of erasing a mistake during painting, you jump on it to see where it leads to. Paul took a similar approach with his music, most notably with The Beatles of course: the feedback buzz at the start of âI Feel Fineâ was a mistake for example, as was the rattling bottle at the end of âLong, Long, Longâ.

Robert paying respect to Bonzoâs memorial. Iâm not crying, youâre crying.
a true friend
âWhile he saved me, he was lost!â
I cried when I read that phrase in Robert Reesâs biography of Robert Plant.
In it Robert explains that when he was at the bottom of the pit because of the death of his son Karac (in 1977), it was his best friend John Bonham who supported him and convinced him to go back to work with Led Zeppelin. However, he also says that it was precisely at this time that John plunged into alcohol and heroin. Unfortunately John left on September 25, 1980, after an alcoholic overdose.
After reading this I came to understand and respect Robertâs decision to never accept a return from Led. It was there that he lived the glory of his musical career, but it was there that he lost a son and his best friend.

ROBERT PLANT: Well, when I was a kid I used to hide behind the curtains at home at Christmas and I used to try and be Elvis. There was a certain ambience between the curtains and the French windows, there was a certain sound there for a ten year old. That was all the ambience I got at ten years old⌠I think! And I always wanted to be a certain, a bit similar to that. . . . . . . . #robertplant #ledzeppelin #classicrock
