Yo, read Children of Blood and Bone

When I interviewed Tomi Adeyemi about the book (yes that was AWESOME), she said she took a lot of inspiration from Avatar the Last Airbender.

So Zelie is definitely Katara, not Aang in my opinion. I don’t think the book has an Aang. It’s like if ATLA was about Katara.

Both girls are intelligent and tough but they’ve been through a lot and they make some mistakes sometimes. Even the tragic mother dying back story fits.

Inan is DEFINITELY Zuko but if Zuko was ten times more of a bitch. Do I even have to explain this one?

Then the (spoiler alert) pairings would match up. And I know Katara and Zuko didn’t actually happen in Avatar but it should have and it was supposed to.

I think Tzain is a combination of Sokka and Toph. He’s like Sokka because he’s protective (overprotective) of his sister, a good leader, a romantic, and he also has to deal with not having special abilities when others around him do. Tzain is like Toph because he’s not a bumbling fool like Sokka and more a smooth talker like Toph. He’s also a competitive athlete like Toph.

Amari is like a combination of Princess Yue who through her character arc develops into Suki. Initially she’s meek but eventually she’s badass. And again the pairing lines up.
