Alec stopped in his tracks as he heard the girl’s voice, a curious look on his face. “Yeah – lemme see,” he asked, grabbing the clipboard to make sure he wasn’t signing something he didn’t believe in. At the words, Alec’s eyes widened. “Hell yeah, I’ll sign that. The world deserves to know.” He replied all too seriously, signing his name quickly before handing it back to her.

reggie flashed him a bright smile. “thank you so much!” she said excitedly, taking the clipboard back from him. “i’m glad at least a few other people realize the importance of this stuff. just about everyone else that’s come through here has laughed at me.”

One minute didn’t sound like a lot of time, but when he’d just gotten out of a two hour lecture and missed lunch, it felt like an eternity to Nathan when he was only asking to stop. Still, with a sigh, he stopped walking to look at the girl. “Petitions aren’t really my thing,” he told her flatly, dull gaze dropping to the clipboard. It was clear when he’d finished reading the title, his brows having climbed to his hairline. Nathan’s eyes raised to the brunette, his eyes narrowing. “You’re just fucking around with this right?”

reggie’s eyebrows furrowed at his words and she shook her head. “what? no, of course not.” she said, taken aback. “why in the world would this be a joke? aliens are serious bitness, my man.”

Giselle simply blinked at the young woman in front of her, the hot latte in her hand warming her fingers. “Well, I guess. I need a little time to kill for my latte to cool.” She tapped her foot, waiting for her to get her clipboard together. “So what is this about? Feeding starving children? Global warming? Sorry to break it to you sweetie but signatures do absolutely nothing. Money, on the other hand, always talks.” Giselle gave Reggie a smile. “My family has made many charitable donations throughout the years. I’m sure if the cause is big enough we could give a little.” When Giselle’s eyes read the title at the top, she gave the girl a look. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”

reggie gave her a smile and extended the clipboard to her. “that’s not exactly true. yeah sometimes it takes things a while to change but petitions help get things in the public eye, y’know? things you otherwise wouldn’t have heard of, you do because of them. i mean---my family gives money too but i think giving your time is just as important. its kind of easy to just hand out money without doing any work.” she said with a simple shrug. “nope, not kidding. its super important.”

Jo took one look at the title of the paper and immediately shook her head. “Absolutely not. I have no interest in knowing anything about aliens. If they’re out there I hope they stay wherever the fuck they are and leave us the hell alone.”

“c’mon please? i’ve been standing out here for hours and only have like four signatures.” she sighed. “that’s why we want to know if they haven’t stayed wherever the hell they are right? i mean---if aliens have already been here wouldn’t you want to know?”

Zach stopped in his tracks when he heard the familiar voice calling out to him. He turned around to face Cello’s younger cousin. He read the top of the page and the corner of his mouth turned up in a smirk. “You know, you could have brought it to the last Paranormal Club meeting and everyone there would have been happy to sign your petition.” He replied, gladly accepting the clipboard and signing his name on the line.

“yeah yeah, i know but i forgot it. i got all the way to the actual club before i even realized it and i was feelin’ way too lazy that day to go back and get it.” she said with a shrug. “besides--” she said, giving him a smile in return. “---i can always get you to help me out now, right?” she said, producing another sheet from the clipboard and extending it to him, after he’d signed. “i haven’t hit the library or cafeteria yet and it’d be totally awesome if you could!”

“but claire this is a legit cause. don’t you want to know about all the shady alien stuff the government has been covering up? i mean---you know they built the pyramids right?” reggie pondered her final question for a moment before answering. “because dana scully is my idol and i aspire to be as badass ass her one day. i can’t exactly do that without the secrets being revealed, can i?”

declan looked at reggie for a moment, judging if she was serious or not before shrugging and accepting the pen. taking the clipboard from her, he scribbled his signature on the line underneath the others. “i want to believe, too,” he laughed, giving it back. 

reggie took the clipboard back from him happily. “hey, its less about wanting to believe and more about just wanting proof. i mean its pretty common knowledge aliens are real, right? they have to be. i think its kind of narcissistic to think that earth is the only planet in the galaxy to host intelligent life.”
