About Me!

Hello! I recently started this blog specifically for Ridley Pearson's Kingdom Keepers book series due to my love of the stories! I have such a special place in my heart for these novels and have been a huge fan of them for a while. This series was actually the first book series I ever read as a kid and was the series that got me into reading! I first read the original Kingdom Keepers series when I was in grade school and middle school, and then re-read the original seven books during my first year of college. As Ridley Pearson is currently releasing a second spin-off series, I decided to embark on another re-read of the novels in order to read the new books. I own all of the books, but have only read the original seven novels. I have not yet read the two novellas, The Return trilogy, or the two Inheritance books. I decided to start the series from the very beginning and work my way up to the current timeline. I thought it would be fun to create a Tumblr blog for the Kingdom Keepers fandom as I start my re-read to jot down my thoughts, opinions, and other fandom related posts. I know the fandom is much smaller than it used to be, and I was too young to be a part of the fandom when the series was in its prime, but I am excited to interact with those still around! I am also interested to see how my opinions of the series still stand and change since it has been a few years since I last read the books. Anyways, all of this to say that this blog is just a personal place for me to post about my love of this series and interact with those still in the fandom!

Disney After Dark Review

I finally finished my reread of the first Kingdom Keepers book, Disney After Dark! I thought I'd share my updated thoughts and opinions on this book below

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Out of 5⭐)

Likes:

unique storyline

memorable characters

funny dialogue

engaging plot

action packed scenes

vivid imagery and settings

Dislikes:

lack of depth/use of the female characters

inconsistencies/plot holes

ambiguous mentor

Final Take: I think this book is a great introduction to the series as a whole. Ridley vividly depicts a magical world that is easy for readers to feel drawn to and imagine. While not perfect, it definitely is an enjoyable read and is such a unique idea for a series. This book is a great starting block for where the story eventually goes. Ridley definitely improves upon the books as the story progresses and as he truly shapes and forms his world/characters. I would definitely recommend this book to young readers, people who like the Disney Parks, and any fans of the Percy Jackson series.

If I had even an ounce of artistic talent in my body I would 100% make fanart of the Keepers in their Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween costumes because those outfits plus that whole sequence in the books is just top tier ✨

Finn breaking into One Man's Dream and stealing Walt's pen has got to be one of the best scenes in the entire book. Just the tension, the drama, the suspense of it all. I love it!

One of my pet peeves with Disney After Dark is I feel like Ridley really underutilized Willa and Charlene compared to the boy Keepers...but the one scene the two girls do have together riding Winnie The Pooh is so fantastic! Then the scene where Charlene is great at scrabble with the clue letters at Cosmic Rays!

Willa and Charlene are so great when paired together in the books. Let the girls cook Ridley!

I love when Philby tells Wayne "Listen Obi-Wan, why don't you tell me and Luke here where to find him, and we'll make for hyperspace."

His sassiness will always be top tier ✨

I died when Amanda told Finn in chapter 10 of Disney After Dark that Willa "said you were cute."

Literally almost every girl in this series was after him in some way at one point or another 💀

In Chapter 8 of Disney After Dark, Finn and Philby shake hands and Finn thinks to himself "It felt as if that handshake represented a pact between them. They were in this together now." I miss the days when these two were actually good friends 😞
