What do you all think of the this comic by Hank? https://www.instagram.com/p/B_cAuUKJbT5/?igshid=p7g5r4wx36au
Ruger is practicing social distancing just like we are at the farm. As a reminder we are following all orders by the Governor of Connecitcut! We apologize if any of our posts were confusing! We are closed to the public and we encourage our lesson students to purchase riding packages for when we are able to offer lessons again. Stay safe, stay healthy & see you all on the other side! ❤ https://www.instagram.com/p/B_X8IAQpxoF/?igshid=14zd5npy3pyub
Can I just say that I absolutely love my Mary goat. She is on the job. No stress, no chasing her around she is just eating away and so are her babies. It'll be 2 years that I've owned her in June and I am so glad that I bought her. She is a hard working goat and mom. ❤🐐❤ https://www.instagram.com/p/B_PqQ61pXv2/?igshid=1g59922dhtxyt

Mr. Hank stretching his legs. He always bucks whenever he starts going which makes me wonder if he has some sort of back injury or tightness (I know I have a tight lower back) Hank thinks he is very cool and he loves to show off his skills for about 30 seconds and then he decides he doesn't need to show off. I have more video I will post. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_GOTuqJSna/?igshid=ohlplnxtsgtv
Because eating from the hay cart isn't as cool as standing on the hay cart and eating from the big bale 👩🌾🤷♀️🤦♀️ https://www.instagram.com/p/B_F2OhZD5lo/?igshid=1x2w7m95i6tmi

One year ago today I was waiting for my Mustangs to arrive. I was wondering when they would get to the barn. The one I was most curious about and the most uncertain about was this dude. His photos from the corral just made him seem so un happy with life. I could feel how he was like oh just another ho hum day. He has been the most stubborn of the bunch. He has opinions about everything! From how close a human can get to when he should have food he has opinions. This is the guy that will follow me around if I let him. He is the guy that will give me a thousand yard stare if he wants food and he does a wiggle lips thing when he wants to treats. If you listen closely while he wiggles his lips you will hear him knicker and talk to you for treats. He is like a mountain and the only way to get him go do anything is if you keep asking him and waiting. Back in October I didn't think I would be able to get him into a stall but now he walks into his stall without worry, only hesitating to see if there is hay. I am blessed to have him in my life and I am thankful that I took the chance on a cranky old man. ❤ Hankee https://www.instagram.com/p/B-8DG09JA5F/?igshid=reeuvze1ftd4
Well, Little Belle is over the rainbow bridge. She was large for her age and seemed uncertain about her legs. She was so very sweet but her little body couldn't fight the infection. When I went to get her and the other three I originally purchased I was uncertain about purchasing her but she was the only girl at the time and I really wanted a doeling. The thing I noticed about her was that she would shake every time she ate. Even when she got lukewarm milk she still shook. It could be that she didn't get the colostrum she needed to fight infections, it could be that she had a defect of some kind. Maybe an enlarged heart. She had a short but well cared for life. She was loved. She had lots of attention and food. I could look at what happened and say well, I should have done this or that but at the end of the day sometimes the little ones don't make it. What matters is that there are six little ones that still need lots of love and attention. Two of the babies had displayed similar symptoms but they snapped out of the illness quickly. The last photo is of the little girl Resting In Peace. As a livestock owner it is tough knowing not every animal will live a full life but at the very least I can give them a good life. In other news! Lark was out in the rain today and was quite confused as to why I kept following her around. Then she realized I wanted her to get dry. It only took about five attempts and lots of encouragement to get her to go into her stall. Lark is one that has been an enigma. She desperately wants attention but at the same time she is quite certain she doesn't need attention. She did seem glad that I noticed her LOL. To think a year ago this little mare was very sure humans were out to eat her. Stay tuned as I think she will make a lot of progress the next few months. My goal is to have her undersaddle by September. 🤞🐎❤ https://www.instagram.com/p/B-7kp9ppEQa/?igshid=135479c4qm4oo
Hey everyone! Little Belle is not feeling good at all. She has diarrhea and a fever. She isn't interested in food and she is very week. She's had some probios and some vitamins but she needs some prayers. I am not sure if she will survive this. She was one of the stronger ones and now she isn't doing good 😓 https://www.instagram.com/p/B-7exY8JxEQ/?igshid=1rha2yzk8yo03
One year ago I was waiting on the arrival of five mustangs. They'd had a long journey and I was worried about them. To think that in one year I would have Rutger going under saddle and able to graze without a halter on and approach him without worrying about him trying to get away from me it is such an amazing feeling. I take for granted everything that he has learned in the past year. Yes, there are Mustangs that go from zero to well trained under saddle in 100 days, however, I didn't have any idea what to expect with the horses I purchased off of photos. Rutger wasn't supposed to be mine, he was going to be a training project for a boarder but lucky for me that didn't pan out. Rutger is an amazing horse. I can have four people grooming him at once and he is like it's all good. I've used him for people both young and old. He does as I ask. He will now jog when I ask him to jog when I am leading him. This is a horse who used to need to be bribed for every step he took. He still needs a bribe every once in a while but for the most part he listens and behaves like a horse who has been around humans most of his life. Rutger will come up to you in the paddock and want attention. This is the horse that last year wouldn't let me get within 10 feet of him. To see how much he has learned in the past year makes me excited to see what he will learn this coming year. I will post current photos of Hank and Lark tomorrow! https://www.instagram.com/p/B-5l1kGp1n7/?igshid=1mqy6v4nbomtx
Happy Easter everyone! I would love help feeding these little ones this week. The more other people feed them the less I have to feed them. I have enough tears for bottles to do six bottles at once so more people can feed them at once. I am also going to set up a playpen for them outside. #reducereuserecycle I am a big proponent of #sustainablefarming I think every farmer is. It's taken me a while to accept that I am a farmer. It's strange thinking that I am. To me farmers own big tracts of land have herds of dairy cattle and acres of crops. To me what I have is a barn, I started off with a few horses and then decided to get a few more. Then I got some goats and then a few more horses. Last year at this time I was sitting at my desk at work wondering if my Mustangs would ever make it home. They were stuck in the middle of the country because of a huge snow storm. I was so anxious about getting them home and whether or not I would be able to connect with them. Part of me was certain what I was doing was impossible. Last year, I had so much going on. This year I feel like I am grasping at straws and that I am so behind. Then I look at this poop pile and I look at my goats and my horses and I remember that sometimes it takes poop to make something great. I sell compost for people to grow plants in. The horses and goats create the manure for the compost. The cool thing is that I am starting to implement my sustainable ideas. It's been three years since I started Hidden Meadow and it is finally starting to come together. As long as I don't get in my own way... https://www.instagram.com/p/B-10f9IJ4ch/?igshid=rn995ddp0fn2
