“If you talk in the next five seconds, I‘m gonna rip your nipples off. Don’t… say… a word.” Benji was scribbling down the last bit of his essay, trying to get the thoughts down before he lost them. Putting his pencil down, finally, he looked up. “Sorry, that was sorta harsh. I wouldn’t really. I’m sure you’ve got perfectly nice nipples, and they should stay where they’re at.”

“Oh sweetie, I do,” Aly just gave a slight grin, pushing the virgin daquiri towards him once he was done. “You can use my office you know, if you need some time alone with your books. I’m not using it right now since Harley’s sick. I haveta be out here.” Resting her hand on her stomach, she gave a shrug. “But be advised, as adorable as you are and how much I feel your pain? If you ever threaten me like that again? I’ll have my boyfriend come down here and rip yours off instead. Capishe?”

“Really? The strongest anything I’ve seen and had here is champagne. There must be some serious lightweights attending the ball,” Kam replied with a laugh. “I am sorry though. I’d feel better apologising about it, because I’m no where near drunk but I still bumped into ya, so I literally have no excuse.”

“The hard liquor is towards the back,” she motioned. “That’s where I left my boyfriend for a bit. He doesn’t do too well with social functions.” But she was happy that he seemed to want to come anyway. “It’s fine though honestly. At least you apologized, most people wouldn’t. Plus, I hope you’re enjoying the champagne, I miss the taste of alcohol.”

Having grabbed a second glass of champagne, Kam had taken to walking around the perimeter of the room, sort of people watching, but more so muttering to herself over how people could be the way they are. It annoyed her to no end, but she kept reminding herself that she had a voice that people willingly heard, and she didn’t have to let her frustration sit silently. She could talk with her listeners, get their take on the matter. Suddenly feeling much more calm, she finished the last of her drink and turned around to head back to her table, only to bump into a couple of people. Laughing it off, she apologised. “Sorry about that. It seems this is the night everyone’s getting really well acquainted with people in the worst way.”

Alyson was just in love with the entire atmosphere. Sure, people were already acting dumb, but most were still rather well behaved. This was for a good cause after all and Aly had already put a check in the donation box. Walking around while Dimka was off talking to either his brother or maybe Blair, she couldn’t be sure, she didn’t remember, the female ended up just on the outskirts of the dance floor, hand resting on her swollen stomach as she swayed back and forth to the music. When she was bumped into, Aly just smiled at the woman and shook her head. “No need to apologize,” the blonde spoke before looking around. “Yeah, and I imagine it’s only going to get worse with the more some people drink.”

“I have a major dilemma.” Micah produced a tray of chocolate roses, setting them on the counter of the bakery. Stressed didn’t even begin to describe how they felt, evident by the dark circles under their eyes, but they were making it work. “I made dark chocolate roses, not milk chocolate. Bride hates dark chocolate. Can I interest you in a free chocolate flower?” Sure, it had taken the better part of the day to make all these, but they had to start again, so might as well let someone enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Alyson glanced up from the display case, her hand rubbing over her swollen stomach as she debated what to buy. Macarons. Yes, definitely she needed some of those. The adorable little cupcakes with the candy ribbons and hearts on them? Those two. Seeing Micah though made the blonde smile as she looked over the roses and reached out, brushing some of Micah’s hair from their face. “Love, you look horrible,” Aly frowned a bit before taking her wallet out. “We can’t let these go to waste now can we? I’ll take all of them, along with half a dozen macarons and four of those cupcakes. And I will be paying for the roses, Micah and I don’t want to hear a single protest from thy mouth.” she pointed a finger at him. “You can consider this a custom order that I’m paying for.”

Ciara reached out for her phone and saved her number in the phone before handing it back to her. “I will do. There is bound to be a day where coffee just won’t cut it anymore and I will need a drink or three.”

Glancing down at her phone, Aly smiled and slipped it into the pocket once again before nodding. “Well, you’re always welcome and we do have coffee and non alcoholic drinks if you just want to drop by and say hi.I’ll let you get back to what you were doing now. It was wonderful talking to you.”

“I’m sure that will go away with time, but they can do that. My old lecturer was heartbroken because she loved tuna but during her pregnancy, she could barely stand to be in the same room as it.” She told her before smiling and nodding once. “It was lovely to meet you too. If you have any more questions, my name is Ciara Sanford, and I’m pretty much always at the hospital. Or I could give you my number if you’d prefer.”

“Oh that would be wonderful,” she smiled and took her phone from the pocket of her purse and held it out for Ciara. ”It’ll be nice to have someone that I can bounce things off of. And if you ever find yourself in need of a drink? Or three? I own Nightshade, feel free to stop in anytime and ask for Alyson.”

“I don’t think even Charlie knows what Charlie’s doing, most of the time.” Shaun was nothing if not honest, at least. “Small weddings are nice. She was suggesting the Caribbean for like, a built-in honeymoon.”

“That’s true, but Charlie is opening up a little more. I think it’s just taken him time to figure himself out. He’s good with taking pictures, I just wish he’d find something to do with that you know?” Trinity frowned a bit and then laughed. “Oh my God, where would we even get the money for something like that? She realizes we don’t make that much right?”

“Sorry.” Ciara flashed a smile. It was her own fault, she often forgot that this would make some people squeamish and everyone liked to hear about it. “I am happy, it’s honestly great.”

“It’s fine, I just wish it wasn’t so squeamish considering mommy loves a good horror movie. They do say that often times the baby will make you sick about things you normally love. As long as I don’t do the pickles and ice cream routine I’ll be thrilled.” Aly smiled and hoisted her bag back up on her shoulder. “I better get going, I’m worried if I don’t get to my bar the new employee will wind up getting us shut down without me to tell her to zip her mouth shut. It was a pleasure meeting you.”

You should end this now. Sweet boys tend to want seriousness at some point and if you can’t give him that, you’re still going to break him either way. Well, no offense to your old boyfriend? But he was an idiot for coming back over and over. So that was partially his fault.”

Look, I’m down for smut as the next person, but I honestly don’t mind those cute domestic threads where they’re just doing something normal like snuggling on the couch watching movies or having dinner and holding a conversation about how their days gone. Or just casually kissing and telling each other that they love one another. Holding hands as they go check out the little shops along the streets of the inner city. If that leads up to sex? Great. But if it’s smut all the time, where’s the development? I thrive on domestic threads where they’re talking about themselves and how their days have gone just as much as smut, so, please remember that.

It could be weird to someone other than a surgeon, but there was a high that came from any surgery. “This has been all I’ve wanted since I was ten, I know the toll, I am sure I’ll manage.”

Alyson’s stomach churned a little bit, normally it wouldn’t bother her but given the fact she was pregnant, things just made her quesy more than usual. “Sorry, I don’t think the babe likes talk of...that stuff, yikes.” She laughed and rested a hand over her stomach and shrugged. “As long as you’re happy that’s all that matters.”

“It’s actually not as lonely as you may think. The hospital takes the majority of my time and the people there are really great.” Ciara said and the joined in with the laugh. “One of the few things that are pulling me through the days.”

“See, that’s where I couldn’t be in your position. Not only because of my ‘disorder’ but because I’m far too social to just do my job - even when I’m working I’m socializing and having fun. You have a good head on your shoulders. I hope that doesn’t change over the years. I can imagine the type of toll doing this can put on you as you carry on.”
