just thinking about how jin guangyao asked lan xichen to die with him and lan xichen staying with him to do so.

only for jin guangyao to push him back, because everything he ever wanted was to own that kind of unconditional love, but as soon as he got it he could stop being selfish for once and let go.

and wei wuxian saying how great it would be if he’d at least die at lan wangji’s hands. because lan wangji is the only one that understands him and if he’s the one to serve the final blow he will know that it’s done not out of hate.

and lan wangji doing his best to keep him alive instead. and in the final moment wei wuxian lets go, because he can’t see a way out, but he cherishes lan wangji too much to doom him as well.

and both times the lan brothers get left behind out of love.
