so i don’t think a lot of people really understand how often south asian culture is misinterpreted and appropriated so i’m making a post about it right here.
any mention of third eyes
any mention of chakras
people wearing bindis when they shouldn’t be
fucking “om” or “aum” tattoos or appliques on things like yoga pants. do you know how fucking disrespectful it is to put a symbol that is so important to my religion and culture on the ass of some white chick’s yoga pants
people wearing maang tikka when they shouldn’t be
anklets with bells on them are very important to the dance culture of south asia and it’s disrespectful to wear them outside of a traditional dance setting
feel free to add any more that i missed because i’m fucking tired
this is okay to rb if you’re not south asian. in fact it’s encouraged that you reblog this post, regardless of your race
^^Anyone is capable of appropriation without meaning to, even other poc. Please respect!

serotonin? in this economy?
protestants: god is not an absent father! talk to god like a friend! god is always with you! bring your problems to god, no matter how small! it’s not at all weird to call god “daddy!”
catholics: god is far too important to give a fuck about your lost keys or your algebra exam. please address your petty concerns to one of god’s ten thousand holy secretaries. if it’s really important, consider asking his mom.
moms be like i may need therapy but God help me middle child so will you. so will fucking you
self reflection is a good thing but too much self analysis is so exhausting. constantly questioning your own motives and how you're being perceived and whether or not you're being real and what's authentic leads to such a convoluted mentality like. u don't even know who you are cause you just end up being a case study and not a person. i just want to let myself move through the world for a moment
on change & rebirth:
1. "How much can you change and get away with it, before you turn into someone else, before it's some kind of murder?" (richard siken, from "portrait of fryderyk in shifting light")
2. "Part of me died so another could go on. The body I raised and abandoned still walking the path on the hill where I became larger than myself and the day could no longer contain me." (marty mcconnell, from "when they say you can't go home again, what they mean is you were never there")
3.
(juan arata)
4. "It is never late to ask yourself 'Am I ready to change my life, am I ready to change myself?' However old we are, whatever we went through, it is always possible to be reborn. If each day is a copy of the last one, what a pity! Every breath is a change to be reborn. But to be reborn into a new life, you have to die before dying." (shams tabrizi)
5. "People change and forget to tell each other." (lillian hellman)
6. "I’m always thinking of going back. When Lot’s wife looked over her shoulder, she turned into a pillar of salt. Pillars hold things up, and salt keeps things clean, but it’s a poor exchange for losing yourself. People do go back, but they don’t survive, because two realities are claiming them at the same time." (jeanette winterson, from "oranges are not the only fruit")
Q: is there any moment that the members act like heroes?
TH:”namjoon hyung encourages me with his words saying “you can do this” and gives me confidence. He becomes a charming hero to me” (trans)
