When celebrities read mean tweets about themselves, it’s funny. When homeless people do it, it’s heartbreaking.

I have been homeless. I have been them. And even though I am lucky enough to have somewhere warm to lay my head at night now, this brings back every painful memory. Every time I had to wonder if I would be able to not have to go hungry, every time I had to stay up all night because I was alone and afraid, every night I wondered what was next for me.

It’s painful.

They had better have helped them all.
