“There’s a difference between loving the idea of someone and loving the person they really are.”
— Unknown
A Storm Unparalleled
I'm not the one you fall in love with,
Those who have tried have been burned.
I pour into others in a way that fills them.
I give a love that cannot be learned.
You will regret ever giving me your time.
Your life will forever be changed.
Every experience you will have after me,
Will leave you craving what you'll longer taste.
I will take you to the most beautiful places,
Every sunrise will remind you of me.
The clouds on the horizon will spell my name.
Flowing rivers will roar with my heart beat.
You will feel my touch when the wind blows;
Both gentle and with incredible force.
The golden autumn leaves that tumble
Will be reminiscent of my warmth.
When the rain clouds start rolling in,
You will smell my scent carried in the storm.
When the thunder shakes your foundation
You will feel my presence at your door.
When you try to drown my memory,
The bourbon will burn you with my flame.
Every time you turn the pages of a book,
You will see the words I gave you in vain.
When you turn the radio to your favorite station,
You will hear my voice sing out your name.
When you try to move on and love another,
It will only be me that you taste.
My love is a storm unparalleled,
You will feel it with every breath you breathe.
Your only regret greater than the day we met,
Will be the day you set me free.

My love, I seal you with six kisses: eyes, mouth . . . and the others I shan't tell you. 2 July 1926 Letters to Véra by Vladimir Nabokov
