Lofter tutorial
Here’s a short tutorial on how to sign up and navigate Lofter, which is like the Chinese version of Tumblr! It’s not as popular as Weibo, but you can find a variety of Chinese artists there. Anyway you can choose to use either the app or the site ->
APP TUTORIAL
Firstly just download the app from your app store
If you are using the app to register, you will come to this page:
Click 注册 and it will lead to this:
You can register an account using your WeChat/ QQ/ Weibo account (or register using a Chinese phone number, which I assume all of us don’t have). I registered using WeChat, just click on the icon and your account will be set up! After that just key in your username and you are done.
On the app page the icons at the bottom of the page are home, discover, news and your account. To search for the users/ tags you want to follow go to the discover page and click on search
Anyway things get kind of tricky here because most of the usernames and tags are written in Chinese… I’ll just link Djun’s and a few other artists’ blog below so you can check them out without typing in Chinese 😂😂
SITE TUTORIAL
Similarly if you use the Lofter site to register an account you will see a similar page (you can use your email to register an account if you are using the site!):
If you used WeChat to set up your account like me click on the WeChat button and there will be a QR code available for you to scan:
Just scan it with your WeChat app and you will be able to log in, you will be directed to your Lofter dashboard:
Anyway here’s Djun Lofter and a couple of other BL/interesting artists for you to check out if you are interested!

you’ve heard of “love me to the point that you want to destroy the world for me,” now get ready for “[pleading] love me. then i’ll die for you.”
I will mock you if I must, to keep your gaze on me. I will burn away your trust, I only hope you’d see… That in my heart and in my soul, the only pack for which I pine, is one that makes my half a whole. One that allows your hand in mine.

You say my heart is mine, a frozen flower caught in bloom. But if you look, you’ll find, my petals all belong to you.

here have 10 pieces of writing advice that have stuck with me over the years
every character’s first line should be an introduction to who they are as a person
even if you only wrote one sentence on a really bad day, that’s still one sentence more than you had yesterday
exercise restraint when using swear words and extra punctuation in order for them to pack a punch when you do use them
if your characters have to kiss to show they’re in love, then they’re not in love
make every scene interesting (or make every scene your favorite scene), otherwise your readers will be just as bored as you
if you’re stuck on a scene, delete the last line you wrote and go in a different direction, or leave in brackets as placeholders
don’t compare your first draft to published books that could be anywhere from 3rd to 103rd drafts
i promise you the story you want to tell can fit into 100k words or less
sometimes the book isn’t working because it’s not ready to be written or you’re not ready to write it yet; let it marinate for a bit so the idea can develop as you become a better writer
a story written in chronological order takes a lot more discipline and is usually easier to understand than a story written with flashbacks

And a softness came from the starlight and filled me full to the bone.
W.B. Yeats (via sunsetquotes)
Various Clouds by Thomas Doughty
William Butler Yeats, from Poems: “The Song of the Wandering Aengus,”
Sometimes, home has a heartbeat.
Sometimes home is what keeps you safe and warm at night. It has fingers that stroke your hair and hold your face and whispers things you have heard but that you need to listen again so the shadows can go away.
And the fears, And the unnecessary worries that cloud your mind when you go to sleep.
Sometimes home is what awaits for you and greets you with a hug after a long day. You can sense those arms tightly around you, and the giggles against your lips. And the words you often hear are “welcome home” although, if they are home, then the right thing to say should be “welcome back to me”.
At times you think about what people say and reflect on the words “home is where the heart is” but you conclude ‘home’ is already living within your heart so you actually never leave home no matter where you go, no matter where you are you always take it with you.
Sometimes you finally realize home has never been a place, but the light in your life that reminds you that you too, deserve good things. That you too, deserve to be loved. That you too, have a special place in someone else’s life. And even if there is still emptiness, and even if there is still darkness, home is there. Home wants you to stay. And keep you close. And keep you safe.
When the night is cold, when there’s sun in the sky, when the mornings are cloudy, when it’s winter or when it’s summer, home is always a smile, an affectionate kiss and a tender caress to your cheek.
It is the sun and the moon, and all of the stars.
Sometimes as well, home is the one who returns. The one that brought you something for dinner, the one who is always thinking of you and does their best so you don’t need anything.
It is the one that wants to protect you, and the one you want to protect back.
Home does not only have a heartbeat. It too, has a name.
If in the future there comes a time when we get separate from one another, we will definitely meet one another once again and watch the moon together again. …Then at that time, even if it’s a moonless night, I promise you that I will search for you nevertheless.
Omoni Kimi to no Hanashi wo Sairoku.
I’ve found that the best way to write a death scene is to make it saddest when it shouldn’t be. The funeral is rushed, the realization of death isn’t spent too much time on, and the characters mourning is more of a blank space filled with hums and a need for endless nothings.
But then Person A finally gets to be alone and gets to their room and looks at the bed and realizes that it’s suddenly a lot bigger. And they’re too short to reach the blinds to close them, and that was always Person B’s job. And they’ll never fold clothes for someone else again, never need to ask someone to turn off the light, never try to stop them from snoring. And then moving away from it all, trying to forget, holding back tears in the kitchen cradling a cup of tea they realize that Person B will never drink tea with them again. And they’ll never help them reach their mug. And when they drop it to the floor, shattering it into millions of helpless individuals there is no one there to tell them not to move, not to step on the glass, not to cut themselves. That the mug has no worth because it’s worth was in the adventures of cleaning up the pieces and remembering it as it was.
There is no one to stop them from hurting. And there is no one to drink tea.
Tragedy comes in the little things. I just wanted to remind you of that.
