Leukemia patient seeks public's help to save her life

A 34-year-old Montreal woman suffering from leukemia is desperately seeking a stem cell donor, and while finding a perfect match is difficult in the best of circumstances, because she is of Vietnamese origin, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Leukaemia patient who used his story to inspire others has died

Kevin Kararwa, the young man who used his story of being terminally ill with leukaemia to help inspire others to join the bone marrow registry has died.

Back in 2011 I remember seeing a tweet with that title, that call- Amit Gupta needs you! Amit is the founder of one of my favourite companies ever- Photojojo - a quirky, fun online store for photography and technology geeks (my own description there). His friends rallied and created this amazing social media campaign that inspired so many people to repost, retweet, share his story and ask their friends and family to go and get registered as bone marrow donors. Amit also took the time to talk about the shortage of minority and mixed ethnicity donors on the registry. This is still a big problem and what makes it harder to find a match for Bay. Amit found a donor. This social media thing works. We can tell lots of people and inspire them to register and we can find a match. We can. Please, please, please go get registered or tell someone about how important this is.
