Thomas pouted and nodded, not showing any inclination that he wanted to grin; that was funny. Instead, he simply watched her, holding her eye contact for longer than was comfortable for either of them. He wanted to tell her what he was doing, he did, but with so many eyes on him, he knew it was better to keep her in the dark. Amber looked away first and Thomas could breathe again. "Scathing." Thomas put the M&M's back on the shelf and took a step closer to her. "Do you care? I don't regret the choices I've made, but if you miss me..." He reached forward, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, "I'm sure Lily could find room for one more wayward wolf."
Amber tried not to react, to give him the satisfaction of seeing the effect he still had on her. She hated him. She hated him for leaving her alone in this, for coming back into her life just to abandon her, again. "I don't care. And I don't miss you," she hissed. Amber wasn't going to cause a scene in the middle of the candy aisle (she hoped), even if he did insist on standing so close. She slapped his hand away, but only after he'd tucked a stand of her hair behind her ear. "I'm not throwing my life away for you, Thomas. I'm not a 'wayward wolf', and neither are you. You're a traitor and a coward. I know where I stand," she said, taking a pointed step back from him, "It's not with you."
