Old Friends | The Doctor & Amy
The Doctor swung the doors open of the Tardis, fixing his coat as he walked outside to see where he had landed. He smiled when he realized he made it to New York, 1940s New York to be more specific. Ever since the birth of his daughter, his mind was haunted with Amelia Pond - his best friend and partner in crime so long ago. He’d spent his nights reminiscing his old times with her and her husband Rory. They had done so many things, amazing memories standing next to her - he had to see her again. Even if it meant putting the whole of reality in danger by crossing his timeline to see her again.
He wandered around the streets of New York for awhile, he always loved the good old days in America. He wasn’t sure how he would find Amy or Rory, he just hoped that maybe fate would twine them together. A little bookshop caught his eye, turning his head to see a brand new book in the window. “Summer Falls by Amelia Williams” are splattered across the window as well as a sign saying she would be signing books today at this time. He noticing the long line of people waiting for her with a smile - she always rocked whatever she did.
He stood in line for quite awhile, holding the book in his hands. He saw her signing away with a smile, looking just like his Amelia. He had no idea how long it had been for her since the Angels, he just knew it had been too long for him. He got up the table and smiled, putting his book down. “John Smith.” He replied.
“Hi! Thank you so much!” Amy smiled, waving to a little girl as she walked out with her mother - taking the next book to sign with a smile up to the reader. It had been almost ten years since she had seen the Doctor last, adapting to regular life had been more of a challenge than she thought possible. She was happy with Rory in New York but memories of the Tardis with her imaginary friend still plagued her mind. She missed him dearly, to a point where she’d do anything to be able to see him again.
She bid goodbye before she grabbed another book to sign, hearing the name “John Smith” before smiling. “Oh really? My friend used to use that name.” She responded, remembering so many times the Doctor used to use that alias for everything. She signed out the book to John Smith, “I really hope you enjoy the book. I find a lot of inspiration.” She said before handing the man the book, looking up at him.
Even though the Doctor could change his face, Amy always thought she’d be able to tell it was him. He was her best friend, how could she not be able to recognize him? She looked up at the man, making eye-contact with him. His old eyes said everything, Amy accidentally dropping the back and moving her hand to her mouth. “D-Doctor?”
