"Vanilla Twilight”
I was praying for inspiration for my next painting in the shower, was listening to the song by Owl City, and this image appeared into my mind in the pretty main musical part of the song. I just thought it would be so pretty for a white horse to be dancing to it. And the sky, well, it's vanilla twilight soo.. This took a month. A MOONNNTHHH AARRGHHH. @.@ Like 3 billion hours. Because it was probably about 10 different paintings. But I kept wiping all the paint off because I kept messing it up and hating it. There were sooo many times I almost tossed it or punched through the darn thing. But I figured, hey, at the very least I'm practicing over and over with oils so if anything, it's my practice painting. So I just painted this in the background while I did other pieces to get my mind off of it a bit each time I would eff it up. So I really hope you like it. <3 It turned out better than I thought it would and I'm proud of it. :) :) :) It's Oils on 16"x20" stretched canvas. Using this cheapo artists loft canvases and I can't wait til I get through them so I can get some nicer ones... Smooother... Please don't copy or share or reproduce at all without telling me and giving me credit and a link to my page. I used photo references for this.
A cardinal and a betta fish. Buddies!! <3
Okay so this one.... I made some major technical errors....
This was an experiment with my new copic markers. I used watercolors as the background. Copics and polychromos colored pencils were used for the subjects.
Don't do these things:
First mistake: After transferring the sketch to the paper, I decided it would be a nice idea to go ahead and mostly erase the detail lines, to make it more realistic. Wth was I thinking. I had to completely redo all the detail.
Second mistake: The three copics I used for the majority of this painting are completely ruined. I learned afterwards that using them on watercolor paper is a huge no no. So I had to go buy some more. @.@
Biggest frustration for me in this piece however.... I used liquid frisket in an attempt to cover the subjects as well as I can from the splashing of creating the background. Unfortunately a lot of the blue came through. So me and my artistic genius decided in my frustration to just color them over best I could with a Prismacolor (wax based lajdsfljasdjf) colored pencil.
IT IS A WAXED BASE PENCIL and copics are ALCOHOL BASED AHHHHH. I know better.
So, the copics just completely went around all of the spots, and I had to darken many areas far darker than I wanted to for the technique I wanted to try. Shame shame shame.
Last mistake: I was on a roll and decided to just take it with me in the car on the way to a baseball game in Phoenix with Chris. I was distracted the entire time and the very beginning layers of this piece suffered for it.
I'm super proud of myself for salvaging it, and creating something beautiful.
^-^
Seems to be the theme lately.
Enjoy!!! <3 :)

Working with new medium… markers. Made some awful technical mistakes so far, which will tack on a couple extra hours of work as I will have to use another layer of medium on top of the piece to cover my errors at the end. FfAaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.
Starting to look pretty though.

Wild Buckskin
This is an 8x11" oil painting on stretched canvas. It took me 11 days to paint. I nit picked at it a lot, which is a bad habit I have that's slows me down a lot and causes me to lose interest in what I'm working on. So I'm trying to learn to let a lot of things be when they look alright, and move on with the piece while it still holds my interest.... Anyways, I really like how this turned out!!! I hope you enjoy.
