Chocolate chip pancakes sounded right up her alley. “Haven’t had those yet, but I’ll have to try them.” She smiled. “Only a few days. But I like it so far.” She nodded. “You work around here too, I imagine?”

"It's a great place if you ask me. I go there a lot to work on cases and have breakfast. I'm often up late at night and it's one of the only places open. I love the atmosphere." Amelia explained, taking another sip of her coffee. "I do, yeah. I'm a family law attorney so I'm pretty much always downtown at the courthouse."

“If it means you’ll keep buying them for me, I really wouldn’t mind…” She teased, taking another sip of her drink. “You ever been to the Sunny Side Up Diner?” She asked, eyebrows raising.

At the mention of the familiar diner, her face brightened and she nodded in response. "Oh yeah! My nephew loves the chocolate chip pancakes there. I take him whenever I babysit." She said as she sipped her coffee once more. "How long have you been there?"

Marley laughed, shaking off the half-apology. “We did have a less than normal first meeting, so I don’t exactly blame you.” Grinning, she nodded her head. “Hi, Amelia.”

"Hopefully next time we see one another, I won't be taking away your drink again." Amelia said with a chuckle, brushing her bangs from her eyes once more. "Tell me, Marley, what do you do for a living?"

THAT MADE SO MUCH SENSE IF SHE WAS HONEST; “That seems like a fairly good reason to be working in the industry that you do if I’m honest, you need a reason to stay there and if you’re happy then why not. I am sorry to hear about your family breaking up though. Did that come about when you were younger” lifting the glass to her chapped lips needing some refreshing liquid. “I’m-… ah how can I explain this, I’m a social media influencer. I promote brands to my high profile followers across my social media”

Thinking back to her childhood, it was hard on her when her parents split. Both her mother and her father had moved on and married new people, resulting in a bunch of half siblings, but it wasn't the same. She missed having that family unit. "It happened when I was younger. I'm thankful they realized they would be happier as just friends, but sometimes you miss the way things used to be." She explained, smiling some at the happier memories. When Quinn mentioned what she did for a living, she smiled wide. "Oh that sounds so cool. I've heard a little about that but I don't know much. How long have you been doing it?"

“All the power to you, then.” Marley jokingly raised her coffee cup, as in toast. She couldn’t say she did either of the two. Eating usually consisted of the cuisine at whatever restaurant she was working at, and her means of working out didn’t exactly involve a gym…but it worked for her thus far, and would most likely not change anytime soon. “Beats me.” She shrugged. Realizing that in all the chaos, she hadn’t even introduced herself. “I’m Marley, by the way.”

When the blonde mentioned her name, it occurred to her that she had never introduced herself. Where did her manners disappear to? "How did I not introduce myself to you? I'm just striking out in the manners department today. But hi Marley, I'm Amelia."

HER OCCUPATION SOUNDED AWESOME AND QUINN PARTIALLY wished she could be in that firm herself but then again she could never really see herself doing what she did for a living but she really did admire the other; “That is interesting isn’t it? Do you enjoy it? Or is it more like something you are keeping at the time to make money but looking for something else on the side?”

Smiling at her comments and feeling a warmth spread through her body, Amelia took another sip from her coffee. "It's always been something I'm very passionate about. As a child of divorced parents, I've always wanted to do what I could to help other kids who come from broken homes." She explained, setting her mug back down on the table before her. "What about you? What is it you do?"

Marley laughed at the information, nodding her head in understanding. “I don’t blame you. Those gym rats can just be so judgmental, can’t they? Personally, I think it’s from snorting too much protein powder, or whatever it is they do with that stuff–”

"Now that's one thing I've never been interested in. I eat healthy and work out so that's all I feel I need to do." She said as she turned her attention from her friend to the people passing by outside the large window. It truly was a beautiful day, one she was glad to now have free. "Isn't protein for building muscle anyway? That's not something I'm that interested in."

SHE SMILED AT HER RESPONSE, HER WORDS kind of resonating with her and piping her interest just a little bit; “Case? Do you work for like the FBI or is it more of a counselling situation like cases as in clients?” her fork dancing in her plate picking up what it could to be put in her mouth so she wasn’t impolite to the other buying her a replacement.

"Oh no, nothing that cool and bad ass." Amelia said with a chuckle as she took another sip of her coffee, enjoying the swirls of caramel. "I'm an attorney. I mainly practice family law because that's what I'm most passionate about. I managed to keep a family from completely ruining their child's life by dragging them through court." She explained, smiling at her accomplishment once again.

In the time it took for the woman to re-order Marley’s drink, the mess on the floor and the tops of Marley’s shoes had been cleaned, looking as good as new. Nothing to even remind anyone that the incident had happened. Accepting the coffee graciously once it was handed to her, she moved out of the way of the line and happily took a sip. She couldn’t help but laugh into her cup at the question. “Oh, I was just teasin’ ya. I couldn’t even tell you the last time I stepped foot in a gym.” Furrowing her eyebrows, she glanced at the woman. “Are you new here?”

Seeing that the mess was pretty much gone completely, she felt even better and as if she had nothing to worry about any longer. Amelia chuckled and understood that sentiment completely. She stopped going to the gym awhile ago but she knew she should probably start again to keep herself in shape. "Oh no, I've lived here my whole life. I just need to find a new gym since I pretty much abandoned my old one. Can't show my face there again."

SHE SMILED AND HANDLED THE PLATE FROM HER HANDS guiding her to a seat by the window so that she could have a chat with her, because she looked sweet; “I hope I’m not making you late for anything by sitting here with you but I was wondering how your day was?”

"Oh no, you're not making me late by any means," she began as she slowly sipped on the piping hot coffee she had ordered. The hot cup felt heavenly nestled between her cold hands. "The case I was working on was settled this morning so now I get to have the rest of my day to myself. But how is your day going?"

Marley’s whole day ruined? Never. Hardly anything could put her in that kind of funk. “If anything, honey, you just saved it. That’s one less trip to the gym I have to make.” She teased, accepting the napkins from a passing patron and dropping them to the floor to soak up the mess. “…if you’re insisting. It was an iced coffee with cream and sugar, please.”

Feeling much better knowing that she could replace at least the drink she had ruined for her, Amelia re-ordered Marley's coffee exactly as she had ordered it before. Once it was ready, she handed it over to her with an even wider smile on her face. "Which gym do you go to? I'm looking to find a good one around here so I can get my health back on track."

WHILE YES IT WAS FRUSTRATING THAT SHE HAD dropped her food, it wasn’t the end of the world in terms of other things that were currently going on at the moment; “You’re very sweet but it’s okay I can pick something else up; but hey, I mean if you want to get me something I wouldn’t say no. I’m Quinn nice to meet you”

Ordering a replacement for Quinn in addition to her order, she turned back to the blonde and handed her the food that she had just earlier taken away from her. "I hope it's tastier now that you didn't have to pay for it." She said with a chuckle.

The world surely needed more people like her, a bright smile on her lips as she felt her heart swell. "I know it's probably nowhere near similar, but I held both of my nephews and my niece through their sicknesses and just washed my clothes like it was nothing. I would do anything to see little angels smile when they aren't feeling well." She explained as she turned her attention back to her. As she talked about the holidays, she nodded and brushed some bangs from her eyes. "The holidays will be at my house this year. I set up little games for the young ones and I have some drinks and movies playing for the adults. I love decorating for it."

Marley wasn’t known to be the most conscious of person, even when it wasn’t early in the morning. If it weren’t for the woman in front of her’s apology, she would’ve assumed the loss of her croissant and iced coffee had been her own doing, but even then, the most she reacted was the slight step back to remove her shoes from the spilled drink now covering the floor. Despite this, Marley offered the woman a mere smile and a head shake, letting out a slight laugh at the mishap. “Don’t you even worry about it. I think that was God’s way of telling me to lay off the carbs.” Marley teased.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Amelia was so grateful that this pretty blonde woman was able to let it roll so easily off her shoulders. "You have no idea how relieved I am to hear you say that. I thought I had just ruined your whole day." She said in all honestly, adjusting her purse on her shoulder. "At least let me buy you another coffee. I would hate to make you go without because of my mistake."

"But I just made you drop your food...I wouldn't feel right if you didn't let me at least replace that for you." The brunette said as she brushed some bangs from her eyes. "I'm Amelia. It's lovely to meet you."
