I recently got told that my mom looks "normal" for someone who was so verbally abusive.

Narcissistic people tend to look like that though.

On the outside, she was a warm, loving mother who would do anything to protect her "ducklings".

I couldn't tell you how many times my parents argued about... everything, really.

As I type this, I recall my mom telling me that my step-dad told her that he felt like she was competing in earning money against him. My mom claimed she wasn't trying to compete.

I'm not sure a massage therapist can compete with someone who works with the government. That's 2 very different jobs.

Don't get me wrong. My mom took pride in her job, and truthfully, she's good at it. But it felt like she was doing it in a way to show off. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just wanted to get my thoughts out.

So this happened today. For context, I'm trying to avoid caffeine because I lost my voice from coughing so much this past week. Caffeine apparently puts a strain on your voice when recovering from a cold.

Husband: (At a Wendy's) What do you guys have that's caffeine free?

Worker: Uh, we have Coke Zero, Diet Coke (proceeds to name sugar free drinks.)

Husband: ... No, caffeine free.

Worker: Right, we have sugar free—

Husband: (Fed up.) Do you have Sprite?

Worker: ... Yes.

Happy Birthday to @amestilskin. As you may know, the hubby and I have been working on a neopets inspired dnd setting so, for your special day, I’ve drawn one of your faves as he appears in the world of Seeliearta.

As I sketched this out, I realized that I did it sideways from the hook.

I'm repurposing the canvas my mom gave me years ago.

And honestly? Sometimes, you just need to look at the world sideways.

I am now accepting requests to draw neopets characters as D&D characters. (See below.)

My husband and I have been working on a D&D setting inspired by neopets which could be easily converted INTO a neopets setting but isn’t one.

Any suggested neopets character will be drawn as a character in the above setting. If you want to see the character as a neopet D&D character, please specify.

OCs are allowed but I will need a detailed description or reference for the character. I will default to drawing them as a D&D species unless asked specifically not to. (See below for exceptions.) Please note that canon characters do take precedence over OCs as I understand them and their potential roles in the world better and thus they are likely going to be more fun for me to draw.

As I’m not doing this for pay, I reserve the right to completely ignore any requests I don’t like or just don’t feel like drawing.

Please be patient. I am very slow and also still working on other projects. It may be months before I complete your request.

So I'm here at work eating a quick breakfast. Thank goodness for DoorDash.

And then a thought occurred to me. More like a memory.

In my Mom's mind, if I didn't pack a breakfast/lunch, then I simply shouldn't eat. This applied at school and at work. She used to get upset when I would have to owe the school money because I got one of their lunches. "I didn't manage my time better."

We also didn't have leftovers of the dinner the night before.

I used to get on her nerves when she noticed I didn't take lunch to work and asked what I ate that day. I didn't dare tell her the $1.25 ramen bowls from Walmart (I kept them in the trunk of my car to hide them from her.) But sometimes I would get panda Express (it was a 2 minute walk from my work at the time.)

"Oh, so you got crap food. You need to watch your weight."

Mind you, I was 120 pounds at the time. I'm 5'6" with a super high metabolism. And I was 21 years old.
