They’re all regrouping after a violent attack from the police and people are reporting that they were assaulted, punched, being shoved and more. We need to keep our police fucking accountable for the shit they’re doing and the power they are holding. It’s been a hot min since I’ve come on here because I’ve been super busy with school and thought things would settle down.... funny how life has a way of not allowing things to go how you plan.
Anyway, I need to get something off my chest. So today I was at work right, and it was super slow so normally I dont entertain conversations with customers -- because legit I’m at work and I aint trya get fired -- but today was super slow.
So basically what happened was this guy came up to me and we started chatting. The conversation was good, he seemed like a cool dude, he seemed pretty woke. Long story short at the end of the conversation he was like blah blah blah
He: “It was really nice talking to you, I have to say you’re really pretty for a Black girl.” (with the biggest smile on his face)
Me - What I actually said: “hmm uh what?”
Let this be a PSA: Saying “You are beautiful for a (black, Asian, brown, indigenous) girl” IS NOT A FUCKING COMPLIMENT! It is so disrespectful. You’re essentially saying any race outside of White isnt beautiful or that beauty is not the norm within these groups. This Eurocentric idea of beauty really needs to change! I am beautiful not because I am Black, Brown, Asian, Indigenous, or White but because I am ME. Beauty is wholly subjective but in the world we live in today beauty is most definitely confided to whiteness and anyone outside of that is deemed not beautiful.
Colourism is so deep in our community and I dont know where to start. But a good starting point is - START READING - changing the way we talk to one another. Drop words like “classic beauty” that’s most def rooted in whiteness -- you know the women in the victorian era or women from the 30s-40s who look like Audrey Hepburn? Yeah they’re considered classic. Black folks have NEVER been deemed as classic, we’re very much the opposite.
Google “classic beauty” below is what you will see
And while I’m at it dont ever tell someone they look exotic, that’s fucking racist bro. Animals are exotic, cars are exotic, destinations in the world are exotic. Humans are not.
Stay woke ya’ll.
Rock Newman on The Phil Donahue Show sharing his experiences as a black man who has passed as white.
when it comes words in general, most people don’t understand that words grow and change like anything else in our society. in etymology (which is the study of words) this is called “semantic change” or “semantic expansion.” therefore there was a time when “racist” simply meant to hate another group simply because of their race but as time has marched on and that hatred has evolved into expressions of oppression as well as hatred, the word “racist” also evolved. so people who don’t understand that and argue the opposite are not only displaying their racism and anti-blackess but also their educational and academic ignorance of how the world of words work.

I've actually been listening to Lupe's album 'the cool' again...taking it back to 07'
here’s what happens when you call out white feminists

After its initial vote to keep the seal, The Daily Show reports that Whitesboro will change its seal.
hi franchesca! the first online content i saw you featured in was your mtv decoded segment, but i can't help but notice that there's a load of negativity in the comments section of nearly every video, as well as people mindlessly disliking the videos despite them being informative and well-made. how do you keep pushing through all that anti-'sjw' negativity and bullshit? it mustn't be easy to see people hating on your progressive content. thank you! :)
yeah, welcome to the internet. there’s actually a corner of 4chan and reddit dedicated to trashing me and the show. they’ve even contacted my producers through their personal facebooks and emails. it’s wild. it goes in ebbs and flows, but it’s gotten pretty bad lately. i try to only respond to comments for the first day or so after the video goes up and then i ignore it as much as possible. but of course that doesn’t stop people from harassing me on twitter, facebook and via email. and now they’ve taken to making nasty videos about me and putting my full name in the title so they come up as related videos when watching Decoded or my personal channel. the amount of time they put into hating me is so bizarre. as much as i hate to say it, i’m probably gonna have to stop participating in comments all together. it’s already time consuming and when i respond to positive comments the trolls just pile on and attack my subscribers. it’s so shitty.dealing with trolls and constant racial slurs and insults isn’t easy, but the feedback i get from you all across social media makes it worth it. i can’t respond to everyone, but i read all my messages and @ replies and everyone is just so sweet and supportive. it really means the world to me. i just try to remember that anyone who takes a risk and does something important is going to deal with blow back, and that’s just part of the job. at the end of the day, these people are investing their time and energy into hating me, which means they’re most likely unhappy in their offline lives. one guy made a 30 minute video about me! what happy successful person has time for that?! Anyway, thanks for the support and checking on me. messages like this mean a lot <3
why don’t non-Black people get that you don’t get to decide that you’re “cultural appreciating” when someone calls you out for being anti-Black and appropriating. If we say it’s not okay, it’s not… period. It’s that simple. You’re not going to die, your life will go on and so will ours. You were wrong. Admit it. You don’t need to give your sad backstory “I grew up around Black culture I love it it’s not my fault” to try to justify it lmao just apologize and take the L.. move on
This is just embarrassing.
Oh, no its getting worse:
