Crane Fly - (Tipula) by Thomas Shahan I Via Flickr I always want to try making something for those Lovecraftian anthologies that are always coming out, but I’ve never actually read any Lovecraft. This photo of a crane fly’s head, however, seems like great inspiration for a story about eldritch horrors.
Anyone: Oh, you're a writer? What kind of books do you write?
Me: Fucking weird ones.
Starting new story~

This reminds me of a story I wrote.

I’m working on the last chapters of WOODS, and I feel like it’s getting harder with each chapter. I want the ending to be absolutely perfect, but that means lots and lots of changes (since each change has a butterfly effect on the end of the story). I feel a bit ashamed to have done so little editing--less than three chapters completed--in the year and a half I’ve been back in Korea, but I’m in a great writers’ group now and hope to be doing more now. (There might be more text posts after this--hope that’s all right with everyone!)
Have a great weekend--

WOODS has a lot of fairy-tale references, and one of them is Rapunzel. This sketch captures that scene really nicely...
