TL_06 draws influences from ambient music with its focus on density and textures. The piece was conceptualised after I had a discussion with visual artist, Lillevan on how he used non-diegetic visuals in ambient pieces.
The idea of noise() in Processing is basically a sequence generator that produces a “harmonic succession of numbers” compared to that of random(). Ken Perlin who developed noise in the 1980s often created life-like organisms in his applications. This idea of life-like organisms was also developed in Processing by visual artist, Raven Kwok’s “Algorithmic Creatures” series. This inspired me to create my own “algorithmic creature”.
This piece illustrates the life cycle of my creature.

TL_07 pays tribute to one of computer art’s earliest creators, Frieder Nake. This simple algorithmic drawing can be traced back to the very beginning of computer art.
From the current point, draw a randomly chosen edge (direction and length) within an established boundary.

Principal Study 10.4
3 more days. I don’t believe it.
Principal Study 10.3b
I managed to get some advice from Andi as to how Raven Kwok worked on this. It’s a similar concept of algorithm creatures.
Principal Study 10.3a
It has been a crazy time trying to finish my thesis. Had to take a break before working on recital again. This piece has taken quite a turn in terms of direction. I figured something more ambient suits the aesthetic of the piece rather than what I originally composed. Perhaps the music for that is meant to be for another time.
Principal Study 10.2b
Testing beat detection with visual zooming
Adapted the code with more angular elements
Principal Study 10.2a
Introduced angular elements after discussion with Andi
Made it 3D
Codewise, it is much cleaner
Principal Study 10.1
After making significant progress with the other pieces, I am now down to the last piece and working out the code and arrangement.
Principal Study 9.4
Playing around with Raven Kwok’s codes to work out something for the final piece.
Principal Study 9.3
Changed up the intro to demonstrate more movement and diversity in relation from sound to visual.
Principal Study 9.2
Updated version of TL_04 || it’s definitely clearer but of a more glitch aesthetic.
Principal Study 9.1
I haven't really worked with non-diegetic visuals for quite some time so creating a narrative form of visuals will prove to be challenging for me.
#11.2
